THEO’S TOP 10 WATCHLIST
Each week I will focus on one division (older male, older female, 3yo male, 3yo female, 2 year olds will start in June). The rankings are taken by the sim division rankings via stakepoints and I add a little comment to each horse. Note in my lists horses are only eligible to be one one list and must have run 3 races in a row in a division to be eligible for that condition. Also, if a horse runs 3 times in a row in another division they would be removed from the list as well.
The chart is listed with this weeks ranking, last weeks ranking, horse name, this weeks stake points, last week’s stake points and a brief comment on the horses recent performance.
The older male division is featured this week.
Hope to see your horses on the top 10 watchlist soon.
OLDER MALES—DIRT SPRINTS
(1) (3)—IN A SIMPLE RHYME—(448) (320)—regains the division lead with a heartstopping last to first move and a big nose win at Dubai.
(2) (1)—AB FAB—(320) (320)—drops to second but may have something to say about that next time out.
(3) (2)—WESTERN ROMP TED(KY)—(304) (320)—ran into a brick wall in Dubai stretch but he did that at the BB and managed to recover after that.
(4) (4)—KETCH(KY)—(248) (250)—couldn’t match VT results in C1 Grade III last time out but really did anyone expect him to.
(5) (5)—SMOULDERING STREET—(248) (248)—chased the speed for awhile at Dubai and ended up settling for a minor share of the purse.
(6) (6)—SKANONYMOUS—(216) (216)—by the time he started his rally in Dubai last time out half the field had already crossed the finish line.
(7) (7)—K’S STATE OF MIND—(208) (208)—horse is sharp right now and will be a force in his next outing.
(8) (8)—ACT OF BRAVE—(194) (198)—horse is on a mini layoff right now and his last allowance race did not bode well for this 6 year old.
(9) (9)—POWER IS RISING(KY)—(192) (192)—stable has been inactive since 2007 making us wonder just when and if he will return to the races.
(10) (NA)—MY TOWNSHIP—(177) (NA)—last years Deep South winner makes it onto the list this week after a 3rd place finish in IN posting a 109 speed rating.
OLDER MALES—DIRT CLASSIC ROUTES
(1) (2)—SOLAR SONG—(548) (484)—2nd place finish in Dubai finally gets this one to the top of the chart and jumps over his rival nemesis.
(2) (1)—ERMINGTON PEGUSUS—(544) (672)—settled for minor share in Dubai and with all those wins tacked up last year it was only a matter of time passing by before some of the stake points started coming off the tally.
(3) (3)—AWESOME FORCE(KY)—(484) (484)—upset winner in Dubai at 12/1 with 117 speed rating, and even though he beat the top 2 it was not good enough to move him up on the chart.
(4) (4)—GRACEPOINTE PRAYER—(456) (456)—early speed duel probably cost him in Dubai but he still held on for a game 3rd showing just how sharp he is right now.
(5) (5)—PASSING STONE(KY)—(433) (449)—was very stubborn trying to get the lead in Dubai and that left him with nothing left for the stretch drive.
(6) (6)—ATAUN(KY)—(428) (428)—will be starting this weekend in a Hong Kong Grade II and hopes to refind the winners circle in that race.
(7) (9)—MAMBO BONES—(379) (315)—a pair of Grade I 2nd place finishes in CA have this one slowly but surely moving up the chart.
(8) (7)—WHO DO YOU LOVE(KY)—(358) (374)—is taking a little breather right now after a tough outing in VT last time out.
(9) (8)—MR. EKO(IRE)—(292) (324)—came back to life with 2nd place finish in MT slop and hopefully is back on his way to regaining his form.
(10) (10)—TEMPEST—(280) (284)—hopefully he can refind his big late kick when he returns to the races next time out.
OLDER MALES—DIRT LONG ROUTES
(1) (2)—CREDIT GIVEN(IRE)—(412) (388)—was a busy March for this one racing 3 times and after a slow start to the month he finished it off with a bang and back to back wins to take top spot in the division.
(2) (1)—PINE SPIRIT(KY)—(401) (401)—dropped down in distance last time out and with 3rd place finish may try the classic division again next time out.
(3) (3)—KANAKA—(248) (252)—5 race win streak ended in IL last time out when he never seemed to get untracked in the race.
(4) (5)—KEPLER CRO COR C(KY)—(206) (200)—comes back with a 2nd place finish in TN suggesting 16F may be a bid tad to long for this guy.
(5) (4)—MIRACLE TO ME—(188) (220)—dropped back down in distance last time out and while he was rallying at the wire he seemed very confused as to why the race was over at the 9F mark.
(6) (6)—SINANJU—(185) (189)—will he go back to running long after CA disaster last time out.
(7) (7)—ENTER THE BEAST(GB)—(144) (145)—4th place finish in NV was misleading as he was 16 length back at the wire.
(8) (8)—SAD JAVA MAN(IRE)—(140) (144)—once he could not get the lead in IL Grade III you could see it was all over for this 6 year old last time out.
(9) (9)—DRUNKEN PIRATE(KY)—(136) (129)—rallied strongly for 3rd place finish in IL last time out closing over 10 lengths in the stretch.
(10) (10)—JIBE(KY)—(113) (113)—looks like BB undercard winner is regouping before he returns to the track for his next start.
OLDER MALES—TURF SPRINTS
(1) (1)—MR DEVIOUS—(480) (480)—easy wire to wire allowance prep in JP last time out setting him up for what I am sure will be a big race coming up soon.
(2) (2)—SEEKIN DESTROY—(392) (392)—will need to kick it up a notch in the stretch if he has plans on catching the top one in this list anytime soon.
(3) (3)—DIGGING THE GRAVE—(294) (298)—probably still trying to catch his breath after wild finish in VT last time out.
(4) (4)—POLITICAL VILLIAGE(IRE)—(248) (248)—everything was going well in JP last time out until he ran out of gas in the stretch drive.
(5) (6)—LEGENDARY LEMON(KY)—(232) (240)—bookeeping moves him up a spot on the chart but just when is he going to make his 2008 debut?
(6) (5)—CREDIT ADDICTION(IRE)—(232) (244)—came back from win with 3rd place finish in JP for this consistant runner.
(7) (NA)—A SAINTS DAY—(220) (NA)—last years Longchamp Sprint winner vaults onto the chart with a win at the brand new NZ track last time out.
(8) (9)—BORRACHO(IRE)—(208) (208)—when and maybe more importantly will this one return to the track any time soon? or has the owner retired and left his horses to the pasture.
(9) (9)—TREE GUEST HOUSE—(204) (208)—a big bounce last time out but really it is the odd race that he throws out a big one to capture his wins which have been spread out lately.
(10) (7)—MR. C. SONG—(202) (216)—does his win in the dirt last time out suggest he will be switching surfaces for good now?
OLDER MALES—TURF CLASSIC ROUTES
(1) (2)—RAPID GREY—(544) (560)—big rally came up short as he settled for 2nd in 12F Dubai Grade I.
(2) (1)—SIP OF SAKI—(496) (592)—also rallied for a top 3 finish in Dubai settling for 3rd in 9F Grade I race.
(3) (3)—EXCLUSIVE HABITAT(ENG)—(464) (528)—picked up first loss of the season with a 5th place finish in FR but perhaps 11 furlongs was to long for him to go.
(4) (4)—CREEPSHOW(IRE)—(448) (452)—may be awhile before we see this one return from his misfortunes in A1 last time out.
(5) (5)—PUPPET REGIME—(428) (428)—ditto for this guy with no ETA for his return after big trouble last time out.
(6) (6)—SEEKING SAL—(352) (416)—it is now 4 and counting for rough outings for this 6 year old and perhaps his glory days are now behind him. But still $6 Million in the bank is easy to live with.
(7) (7)—WOODYNA—(336) (336)—MD yielding turf was not the answer for this guy who has struggled in his last 3 starts now.
(8) (9)—ROCK BALLAD(KY)—(312) (316)—he could not get the lead in his return to routing in LA last time out and it was downhill from there in that race.
(9) (NA)—AWESOME SONG(KY)—(310) (NA)—this one has sights on becoming the best turf miler in the sim with 4 wins in his last 5 starts including a pair of Grade II races.
(10) (8)—PAYCHECK(IRE)—(296) (328)—neither a sprint or a dirt try have woken this guy out of his slump and if he cannot find his way soon he will probably slip right off the chart.
OLDER MALES—TURF LONG ROUTES
(1) (1)—LEX LUTHOR—(604) (604)—while he got the lead in Dubai you could tell at the half that it just was not going to be his day.
(2) (2)—RURAL LAW(IRE)—(590) (590)—barn has been inactive so far for the 2008 season.
(3) (3)—TOTAL CHAOS—(512) (544)—still savouring his sweet VT win before heading back to the races soon.
(4) (7)—KIRBY’S BEST YET(KY)—(458) (346)—Kirby’s Best Yet had his best run as of yet in winning Dubai Grade I last time out.
(5) (4)—OTTOMAN TURKS—(449) (465)—hit a brick wall in Dubai stretch last time out after chasing the speed for half the race.
(6) (5)—BAND OF BUDAS—(432) (432)—is this 7 year old finished or does he have one more glory race under his belt.
(7) (6)—ANOTHER TENPIN TAP—(408) (413)—Dubai makes it 3 starts in a row where this guy has nothing left for the stretch drive.
(8) (8)—MAX CALIFORNIA(KY)—(352) (324)—rally for 3rd in FR Grade I made March a good month for this 4 year old colt.
(9) (NA)—STRONG BELWAS—(322) (NA)—rejoins this group with a 2nd place finish in FR Grade I although losing 5 lenght lead at the top of the stretch was not the game plan.
(10) (9)—DIRECTOR—(312) (296)—wire to wire win at Epsom matching lifetime best speed rating of 108 has this one looking forward to the rest of the 2008 season.
The Older Female divisions will be hilited next week.
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RACING
