Stakes and Claims

A quick preview of the races for this week.  There are two high priced ($100k+) claims races and  The ROCCO’S REEF(IRE) Handicap.

Race 1 Starter Allowance  ($7,500)
An even field (4 of the 7 runners are near 3/1), RURAL HAWK(IRE) and ALDELIQUOR(KY) look to have the short stuff and recent wins to take this race.

Race 2 Maiden Special Weight
Nearly everyone is a longshot… this should be between SILVER COATING(KY) and IMA FIRESTARTER(KY)

Race 3 Allowance
The two longshots in this field are 8/1, the rest are even – pick’em, but I like LATINOAMERICANO(JPN)here

Race 4 Allowance
A lot of quality horse flesh in this one… do yourself a favor and pick PLUSFIVES(GB)

Race 5 Maiden Claiming  ($2,000)
Give favorite  FERRARI CARNAO(KY) a try

Race 6 Allowance
Another favorite looks good here BLUE BULLET(FL)

Race 7 Maiden Claiming  ($2,500)
DELPENN POSSE(KY) just missed last time out – maybe 11th time is the charm?

Race 8 Claiming  ($2,000)
With a name like BATTLE ZONE – even from the outside this favorite looks good.  SEARCHING BARK is a good back up pick.

Race 9 Allowance
TIGER TOUCHDOWN(FL) is the one to beat!

Race 10 The ROCCO’S REEF(IRE) Handicap
A small field, a small handbag for the ladies, FEVER BURNT is the favorite, but COLDSTONE(KY), A QUIET YEAR(KY),  DANCE OF DEATH(KY),  BLACK BETSY, and BRADY WINS AGAIN(KY)  look to be a factor.  I will box 8,6,1.

Race 11 Claiming  ($100,000)
The sponser has the best jockey and the likely win… HOIST THE KING(IRE)  boxed with BUT EVEN SO

Race 12 Starter Allowance  ($4,000)
The sponser has the best jockey and the likely win…  FEAR OF HEIGHTS(IRE) boxed with NEW YEAR NO JOBS

Race 13 Claiming  ($15,000)
The sponser has the best jockey and the likely win… LITTLEBIG(GB)

Race 14 Allowance
A full field – both THEATER BLUSH(IRE) and SIGNIFICANCE are good bets

Race 15 Maiden Claiming  ($150,000)
The sponser has the best jockey and the likely win with MY FEAR IS NAKED(FR).  SECONDARY(JPN) is a good bet though

Race 16 Allowance
A small field with AS ADVERTISED(IRE) as the likely winner, but MY TURNNOW is a good bet.
