Scratch bred 3yo by Theatrical that easily cruised to a gate to wire finish in his last.  Theatrical has, in the past, produced many a graded winner.  Age seems to have taken a little spark out of his 2007 3yo crop as he hasn’t produced one as of yet.  This youngster is shooting to be the first.  As good as this colt looks at the moment his DS and DDS lines are a little weak.  That may be overcome by the great condition he is in at the moment.  He will have company up front in this and must be rated properly.

Alkaasad is the sire of this scratch bred who has earned 4 victories in 5 starts.  This 3yo has the honors of being the sires only graded winner to date.  That victory coming in Florida’s Panhandle Park Derby (G3).  He’s had the luxury of competing in smaller fields where his strong run in the final stages isn’t impeded that much.  This will be the largest field to date, and he will have to have a smart ride to find an opening in his stretch drive.  Definitely has the stamina, but needs some racing luck.

Sire is a class act.  However Sadler’s Wells progeny have been on the downside since his 2006 crop in the sim.  He will be pensioned due to age and it has shown in his runners the last few years.  This colt’s he/mare was a turf sprinter to boot and it seems to reflect somewhat in his ability to date.  A two time listed stakes winner at 8-8.5f; his graded attempts leave much to be desired.  Adding to that, his jockey is horrible.  He would be a big surprise here.

Sired by Red Ransom out of a “D” rated mare, this youngster has won his last 3 listed events.  Red Ransom hasn’t had a graded winner in his last two crops….’06 & ’07.  Colt’s mare was graded placed on turf, so this guy seems to be well within striking distance of this field.  It certainly would give some credibility to Red Ransom’s stock as a sire.  Colt is a front running fool, but will have company.  Decent jock in the irons.

NW4L colt sired by War Chant coming off back to back wins.  Last out was an impressive listed stakes victory at today’s distance.  Colt is out of a “G” rated mare who has one G1 winning progeny.  What with War Chant still producing graded winners, this colt has some real class.  So-so jock shouldn’t be a big factor, but a slight bounce from last race could be a reality.

Already twice a G3 winner, this scratch bred colt by Shirocco looks to be the real thing.  A fine prep race last out should have him peaking at the right time.  He loves to put on that late explosion that has the fans on edge the whole stretch run.  He should have plenty of speed to run at if a duel should occur.  Given his experience and heart; he most likely will be in the photo.

Out of a “G” rated he/mare and sired by Linimix; this colt with only 4 starts is well on his way to stardom if he keeps progressing.  He is from the last and final crop of his sire; who BTW, never had a graded winner while in service.  In the colts short career he has proven he can get the distance by winning a 9.5f listed event.  May need a bit more experience, but a fine animal.

Colt is sired by Refuse to Bend who is a pretty hot sire in the sim.  He has sired 8 graded winners so far and this youngster wants to be number 9.  However, the colt hasn’t as of yet proven himself at a mile or more.  As far as two turns go, he may or not be up to the task.  Breeding suggests it may be tough.

Scratch bred to Forest Wildcat this colt is on the improve.  Stretching out for the first time last out, he held his own to finish a game second at 9.5f.  Albeit the field was small, but he gave a good account of himself against a hot horse at the time.  The colt will be pushed to the limit here because of his inexperience and speed of this field.   Sire usually gets one graded winner out of each crop…maybe he’s the one.

After stumbling at the break last out; this colt jogged home.  However, the previous race is what counts.  Colts first race as a 3yo was a G1 at a mile and he finished a game second.  He also posted a 100+SP in that so we know he has some class.  Scratch bred and sired by Street Cry, he had a fairly good year as a 2yo.  Sire is producing about one graded winner a year and this colt just missed being the second of his crop.  Seeing as this will be the first time at the distance, we’ll have to have a wait and see approach.

Sadler’s Wells colt having a bad case of seconditis.  Still eligible for NW2L, this well bred colt just can’t seem to get the job done.  He is accumulating points and is in the 31st position for a possible shot at one of the triple crown races; but can he get past his sprinting form?  This event should give the trainer a clear picture as to where the colt fits in to the scheme of things, and where his colt can get on with winning.

Good vibes radiate from this Pivotal sired colt.  He has been rested for about 6 weeks and looking back at his record; he fits well here.  His “C” rated mare brings lots of stamina to the bloodline.  As a 2yo the colt won a G1, G2, and G3; the longest coming at 8.5f.  It’s possible the colt may need this race, but if he’s sharp he should be there at the end.  Top jock provides an extra look.

Bernardini sired colt out of a “G” rated mare.  Trainer rested the colt for about two months after a decent 2yo campaign.  Colt is a stalker and had a very good prep in his 1st out as a 3yo hanging tough for the 3rd spot at a G2 in VT.  Hasn’t been the distance but that shouldn’t be a problem.  Decent jock and nice form may carry him to a high place finish.

This event features a great mix of speed, stalk, and strong finishers.  There is no one standout and is up for grabs as odds attest.  Just for kicks, exacta box 6,12.  Hoping all these nice looking colts come back in good shape.
