Only 4 Bounce in the Kangaroo Bob Handicap Stakes

The KANGAROO BOB Handicap
Stakes
One mile
Firm Turf
$70,000
All horses, 3 years old

A disappointing turn-out for this Stakes race but it should provide some entertainment and at least all the owners are guaranteed getting a cheque at the end of the race. Despite having a short priced favourite this is a race that could throw up a surprise. The runners are:

Charging Zab(AUS)

Trainer: bevronii

(Charge Forward (AUS) x Zabeel(NZ) x Benny The Dip)

Odds: 3/1                    Earnings: 55,468                    Runs/Wins: 12/1

A 3yo colt from Crandy Stables bred from a class G mare.  He had a very busy 2yo year, mostly because he took a very long time to lose his maiden tag.  He’s failed to win since and I believe that, despite a disappointing run over 9.5 furlongs earlier this year, he will be better going longer.  There’s no doubting his perseverance so not one to write off in the future.

Indian Holiday(KY)

Trainer: bpace

(Harlans Holiday x A.P. Indy x Polish Numbers)

Odds: 7/2                    Earnings: 39,480                    Runs/Wins: 4/2

A 3yo scratch bred colt from Jacklad Empire.  A very inexperienced 3yo who had a rotten run in his only race this year, finishing well back.  I’m sure that he will improve soon, though perhaps a try on dirt may not be far off coming.

Generous Dream(ENG)

Trainer: supapogs5

(Generous(IRE) x Galileo (IRE) x Machiavellian)

Odds: 2/1                    Earnings: 131,240                  Runs/Wins: 6/4

A 3yo colt from Pogo Racing bred from a G class mare.    A nice colt who has, other than a brief hiccup in a G3 race, done everything that has been asked of him.  His first run of the year will be interesting as I would expect him to show significant improvement this time.

Mexican Wave(KY)

Trainer: crackpot

(Swain (IRE) x Seattle Slew x Intrepid Hero)

Odds: Evens               Earnings: 78,200                    Runs/Wins: 8/3

A 3yo colt from Tees Stables bred from an F class mare by kingswood.    The favourite in this one has some pretty good form to his name this year already, though he did run up against some very hot colts in his last race.  Any thoughts that this one will be an easy run for his first stakes victory should be dispelled as he will still need to be at his best to gain the victory.

Summary

Favourite Mexican Wave(KY) may look a good thing to some but I reckon Generous Dream(ENG), barring a freak improvement by one of the other two, could be the one to follow in this one.
