G1, The Europe Classic: 12f on the turf in Germany.

Germany (GER) Saturday, September 18, 2021 — 3:00:00 PM EST | Race ID : 2617463
The Europe Classic
Grade I / Group 1*CPU – Purse : $750,000
Restricted to 3 Year Olds and Older
12 Furlongs | ~2400 Meters | One Mile and a Half Firm Turf

This week we are headed to Germany where the running of the G1, The Europe Classic will headline the card.  This race will be going off across a Firm Turf track at the distance of 12 furlongs.  The field will consist of seven horses and they all look well matched in this race.  Picking winners will be hard on the odds makers today that have formulated their morning line.  The post draws have been assigned and with only seven horses in this field there is really no bad post position in this race.  Let us now take a quick preview of the horses that will be running on Saturday here in Germany in the G1, The Europe Classic.

1 BLUEFISH LASAGNE B KY 4M barbstars L Fenner 14 5 64% $653,484 157.00 4/1

This is a four year old Bay Colt that is a scratch bred (POINT OF ENTRY x RAHY x SADLER’S WELLS) who has had fourteen prior starts and that has hit the boards in nine of those races.  He won the G1, The Good Day in Paris back in April of this year.  He has had two more G1 starts since winning that race of which he has had some trouble.  His most recent start came on 07/24/2021 when he traveled 12 furlongs in Surrey in the G1, King Geoff and Queen Beth’s Emerald Stakes.  He ran fairly flat in that race and never found the kick in his stride down the stretch to close late as we have seen him do in the past.  He finished up that race with a 111 speed rating and crossed the wire back in sixth.  For the race here in Germany the owner is calling in jockey, L Fenner from Japan to come in and take to the saddle and help guide this horse across the turf.  The jockey needs to find that kick again out of this colt if he is to find himself on the boards.  They will saddle up and head out on Saturday representing the Hoosier Racing residency.

2 EMPEROR NAPOLEON ENG 5M waremblem4 R Whisper 20 6 60% $361,940 1.38 4/1

Next out we have this five year old Bay Horse sired by Dubawi who has twenty prior starts and twelve hits on the boards.  This horse has had several prior Graded starts but has never picked up a win at this level.  He has not been running in Graded level races in recent starts, but the owner is giving his horse another opportunity here on Saturday.  His most recent trip to the track came on 06/17/2021 when he went out in Paris going 8 furlongs in a $39000 NW2y Allowance.  He tried to make up some ground in his stretch run and got to the wire in third with a 109 speed rating.  Turning to Germany on Saturday the owner is calling in jockey, R Whisper who will be coming in from Surrey to take the mount up top.  This horse has not faced this kind of company in a race for awhile and the jockey is going to need to have his ride ready for the challenge when they break from their post draw representing the Universal Racking Club residency.

3 PAPER TOWEL A IND 5G mlafort1 H Artack 20 5 75% $537,324 89.00 9/2

This is a five year old scratch bred (MULTIDIMENSIONAL x ADCAT x SIMPLEX (FR)) who in twenty prior starts has hit the boards in fifteen of his races.  He has been doing well for his owner this season only missing the boards in one of his races of which he placed fourth in the G2, The Sanka High.  But he was all business in his most recent start on 08/15/2021 when he ran in Japan going 11.5 furlongs in the G2, Shimko Classic.  He stayed close to the leaders in this race and by the time he got to the third call he had found his way to the front and went on to get up for the win by two and a half with a 115 speed rating.  For the race here in Germany the owner will be calling in jockey, H Artack from Turkey to come in and take the mount.  This jockey has some experience on this horse and they will pair up together here on Saturday to see if this horse can get to the wire first for his third win in a row.  They will saddle up and come out in the post parade representing the Hoosier Racing residency.

4 TUMEREMO ENG 5M grenoble2 D Matas 23 5 52% $620,722 60.00 5/1

Next up we have this five year old Bay Horse that was sired by Frankel and that is out of EOY winning mare, London Guildhall.  This horse has twenty-three starts in his career and has found the boards in twelve of his races.  He has had a lot of recent trips going 12 furlongs lately and did find a second place finish in Newmarket on 07/04/2021 in the G2, The Princess of Whales.  His most recent trip to the track came on 08/07/2021 in New York when he ran in the G1, Sword Swallowers Stakes.  In this race he tried to make a late closing effort but could not quite get there when he ended up crossing the wire in fifth with a 107 speed rating.  Sights are now set on Germany where he will be getting his regular jockey, D Matas from Paris to once again take the ride with this horse.  They are a regular pairing and this jockey knows how to ride this horse and how he likes to run.  They will saddle up and make their way to their post draw on Saturday representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

5 CHATON KY 4M stormboot D Evans 18 8 67% $655,751 128.50 7/2

This is a four year old Light Grey Colt who was sired by Kitten’s Joy and that is out of EOY winning mare, Mon Coup.  This horse has eighteen prior starts and has found the boards in twelve of his races.  This horse is coming off three straight wins in a row which includes a win in the G3, Great Beer Cap and the G2, The Einstein Stakes.  His most recent trip to the track came on 08/14/2021 in Sweden where he traveled 11 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Bxcvn Turf Stayer where he battled it out at the wire to get up by a neck with a 115 speed rating.  For the race here in Germany the owner is calling in a very familiar jockey, D Evans to take the ride.  This jockey knows this horse and knows how to handle him.  This could be the front runner in this race and this horse has gone gate to wire in the past.  The jockey will saddle up in the paddock and come out in the post parade representing the Midas residency.

6 RED BOREALIS FR 4G phillipj5 M Jolly 13 4 54% $122,544 15.00 10/1

Next up we have this four year old Bay Gelding that was sired by Redoute’s Choice who in thirteen prior starts has found the boards in seven of his races.  This horse has ran at the Listed Stakes level in his two most recent starts.  As he stepped up in Class he was met with a couple of disappointing starts.  His most recent race came on 08/07/2021 in Ireland where he went 11 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Nirvana Filter Turf Stayer.  He was unable to find the fire in his legs needed to factor in this race.  He takes a big jump in Class coming here to Germany to compete in his first Graded outing.  The owner has secured the services of jockey, M Jolly who will be flying in from Vermont to take his spot up top in this race.  This jockey is going to need to find some extra effort out of this horse when they break from their gate representing The Minnesota Testbarn Residency.

7 LAVISH IMPACT JPN 5G walmtk M Kelly 22 6 64% $701,783 134.00 7/2

This is a 5 year old Bay Gelding that was sired by Deep Impact who is had twenty-two career starts with fourteen hits on the boards.  He has had a few good races for his owner this season and last year he ran second here in Germany in the G1, The Europe Classic.  He looks to see if he improves upon that this Saturday as he returns here to run again.  His most recent trip to the track came on 07/04/2021 in Newmarket where he traveled 12 furlongs in the G2, The Princess of Whales.  He lingered well back early in this race but when he turned for home he fired during his stretch run and was able to find the wire first by one and a quarter with a 109 speed rating.  This horse should be a contender here in Germany and the owner is calling in a familiar jockey, M Kelly from Delaware to come in and take to the saddle with his horse.  The jockey should know how this late closer likes to run and he needs to keep him close enough in this race to make a big late move when they break from their gate representing the GR Simsters residency.

Good luck to all owners and horses!

Skippy’s Watch List

3-Paper Towel A:  Has two wins in a row including a G2.  Can he make it three in a row with a G1 win?

5-Chaton: He has three wins in a row and is looking to make it four.  Will he lead this field to the wire?

7-Lavish Impact: Coming off a G2 win at the distance and ran second in this race last year.  Does he find the win this time?

Whoa, that Watch List will either jinx it or be a great call. Fingers crossed for my first G1…

Thanks for the article. I’ll take a 1-3 quinella.

I’m hoping the 3 wins because I bred him.
