The Girls Of Summer Stakes from New York

The track is humming here at New York with four Graded and one Stakes race programmed on the card here there are more people around than a Post Office on pension day with trainers, owners ,stable hands and of cause those denizens of all race days the tipsters who are usually in overcoats, Humphrey Bogart hats and talking out of the corner of their mouths.

A slightly disappointing field of only eight three year old fillies have turned up for the Grade11 The Girls of Summer Stakes over one mile and three eighths on firm turf. The big guns may have stayed at home in the stable but at least we should see a hard fought race over the route and it gives some the opportunity to improve their rankings.

From barrier one and ranked 25 is CAL CITY GALand is showing odds of 7/2. This Red Bullet filly trained by windycity is coming off a last start win over 9 furlongs in an Allowance. She ran a good seconded at this distance and class five starts back, she was than sent out in a Grade 2 over 12 furlongs but failed to fire. The trainer since that run has put her back in Allowances where she is two from three. She loves to sit on the pace and she should be suited in this field and is sure to go close.

Priceless has the 10/1 shot STOP THE GROOM T stepping out of barrier 2. This is a huge leap in class for this Runaway Groom filly but recorded a game win over 12 in an Allowance at her last start after being on the pace for the entire journey. This is not a race full of champions and the distance won’t be a problem therefore if she can cope with the class she could cause an upset.

The Event Of The Year filly VTS WTA TURF EVENT  and pity the race caller with that name,is trained by clmstable and is jumping from 3 and on the tote is 4/1.It is hard to get a handle on this filly regarding getting the distance and handling the class. She put in a fair run at her last start over the mile in a Grade2 and prior to that finished strongly for a seconded over 7 in a Stakes. She does have a win over 9 four starts back in an Allowance, but I would be hesitant to tip her until she had tried this distance.

From barrier 4 is the Mr. Greeley filly DAHOMEY trained by rafita and is 7/1 on the board. The odds are attractive here as she won and won well an Allowance over 10 at her last start, storming home from the tail, one thinks her riding instructions may have been changed for that run. Four starts back ran a credible fourth over  11 in a Grade 3   and has a Stakes to her credit six starts back. I f she handles the class look for her to be coming home with a wet sail.

Ranked 9 is kyclocker4’s filly STAGE COACH SLEW (IRE) a filly by Theatrical jumping from barrier 5 and with odds of 5/2. From eleven starts she has greeted the judge only twice however her last two runs have been  Grade I ‘s and in both she proved her talent. First off over 12 she finished strongly to get seconded and at her most recent start went down but went down fighting to get third over 11. The class is not as strong and in a field of 8 she should get the run of the race and this could be the start to a great career for this superbly bred filly.

NO MORE OPTIONS(GB) a filly by Diesis and trained by goldsmith from barrier 6 is posted at 10/1. Of all the fillies entered she is one who loves the journey  and prior to her last run was the impressive winner of four in a row from 10 to 12 furlongs including 3 Stakes. She stumbled at her last start which was a GadeI over 16 furlongs after setting a fast pace trying to win from wire to wire.  Previous to that she was impressive in a Stakes over 12 where she led from go to whoa. The odds are good and if left alone she is capable of producing some red faces.

Tmachine has the King Cugat filly MILTIADES from barrier 7 and is at 17/1. Even though she is a last start winner with a 10 furlong Alloance to her credit she does appear to be a little out of depth in this race. She is an on pacer and she will keep them honest.

From barrier 8 and with odds of 7/2 we have ANALYZE THIS(IRE) a Swain filly trained by overbrooks. This gal oozes class and though she hasn’t been in the winners circle for the past five runs she has performed at the highest level and she showed at her last run where she powered home over 9 in a Grade I recording a top time she is primed for this .It should be a great race with the favourite coming from mid field  and this filly who will be coming home with a charge like a mad bull when he spies a field of heifers with no gate between them..
