Random Thief Sells!
Random Thief Sells!
Auction 3469 – This week there was a lot of action surrounding 2 YO’s and seven of the twelve entered into the auction, sold and sold well, one of them being the top price of the sale. Trainers continued this week, to clear their barns of horses that were not living up to their promise or just not doing their job. No one minds feeding a horse if he is useful but once that usefulness comes into question; you might as well get rid of them now as later. Total sales were up, the average was up and the number of horses taken home by the Computer stable was up. Best of all Random Thief found a home.

Auction Seen: Many of the big players were around this cold and wet auction day and it was fun to see the place so busy. Luckily, someone had the fire built up and my corner was toasty warm. Wee, Woo and Win were standing in front of the fire drinking hot cocoas and were doing a good job of blocking the heat. However, I had just come in from outside so the whole place felt really warm. The next table over held some noisy basketball fans, Mrshoops, Mysonjoe and Hoopsdad. I had to ask but much to my dismay, they were not cheering on the Arizona Wildcats. I saw Tsunami who was very busy looking at the catalog with the help of Jackbauer who was only in for a quick 24 hours. Redhatcat stopped by for a short visit with Kittycats and I saw Parrothead searching for quarters at the jukebox. The Cheat boys were busy but there were no Bears this week although there were plenty of Hawkz and Wolves. Borderburg was looking for a fence builder but all he found was Used and Bung was touting some contest he was running to Haymaker. Many people seemed to be cleaning house to make way for the upcoming 2 YO’s. Among those liquidating a lot of stock were Texasace, Stoners and Lenny. Texasace finally got someone to buy that poor Random Thief after about a million weeks of being entered in the auction. Shamran5 paid $40,001.00 to rescue the unraced 4 YO colt by Var. The most fun of the afternoon was having a visit with Irisharse as he always has something to say. It was fun to catch up on what Dom and Emily were up to among other things. Irish has a ton of stories, most are amusing, and all are instructive. I am sure he will forget more about horses than most of us will ever know. Ah, well. So much for the seen and on to the millionaires.
The Millionaires:
Ten horses sold for a million dollars or more but six of them were stable transfers. The sale topper was a lovely chestnut colt by Bluegrass Cat out of a Seeking The Gold mare – #155976 Seeking The Green. The 2 YO has been training forwardly on the farm and he looked as good as the $5,596,003.00 he sold for. Korn consigned this well-made colt and Stoner’s signed the ticket to lead him away.
Cadmus, #112968, was consigned by Unitedfarm a division of Murray1farm and sold for $ 5,499,999.00. A bay, 4YO son of Rahy, he has been in the money in 11 of his 19 starts and has won six of them. In fact, he has won three of his last six and has posted speed figures of over 100. He comes with a lovely starter tag of $2,500 that Catahoula (Texasace) will certainly take advantage of.
Winnett sold a nice looking colt, hip # 147242 by Storm Cat, to fellow GSR member Freeky2. The 3 YO chestnut will hopefully improve off of his 2 YO season. EZ Warrior has been sent out recently in very small fields and has only managed to beat a total of seven in his last three races. That wasn’t good enough for Winnett and off to the auction he went.
Zeco1 paid $1,000,000.00 for a nicely bred 3 YO dark bay filly by
The five million dollar plus stable transfers were Key Support, Market Call, Head Director and Corsair, all transferred by Murray1 and Deltatiger transferred two for over a million, Truly Apples and Sinuri.
The Stc:
Stc trainers bought 16 head for $12,769.00 with the average being $798.00. Stclenny finally decided he had given the rest of the trainers a long enough head start and got busy, buying seven head for $5, 777.00 to be the leading buyer. The highest price paid by a Stc trainer was $3,334.00 for a 5YO son of Theatrical. Dansire consigned the big brown horse named Irish Escapade #105693, and Stcselur led him away.
That’s it for this week. Good Luck with all your auction purchases.
