G1, The 10cc Rubber Bullet: 3yr old fillies will fight this one out in New York.

New York (NY) Saturday, September 12, 2020 — 2:10:00 PM EST | Race ID : 2553687
The 10cc Rubber Bullet
Grade I / Group 1 – Sponsored – Purse : $500,000
Restricted to 3 Year Olds, Fillies Only
10 Furlongs | ~2000 Meters | One Mile and One Quarter Fast Dirt

I am heading back to New York this weekend where I found an interesting race on the card that is restricted to three year old fillies only.  They will run in the G1, The 10cc Rubber Bullet which is a Sponsored race, but I am unsure as to who the sponsor might be.  They will travel 10 furlongs across a Fast Dirt track on Saturday as they attempt to find a trip to the winners circle and collect another accolade for their résumés.  This appears to be a fairly tight knit of fillies that will be running in this eleven horse field.  The odds makers have made their selections for their morning line and post positions have been drawn.  We will now take a preview of this group of three year olds that will be running in the G1, The 10cc Rubber Bullet on Saturday.

Post Position: 1

Horse/Odds: Flint Michigan  8/1

Sire: Flintshre

Owner: teamasr2

Jockey: J Benisz

The owner of this Bay Filly has had her racing on both the dirt and turf surfaces.  As of recent her last three races were on the turf where she has done very well.  However, this Saturday she will be coming back to compete on the dirt and at a distance of which she is very familiar.  Her last two trips have been at the Graded level on the turf of which she hit the boards in both.  She likes to run up front and that is where I would expect to see her for this race.  She last went out on 08/09/2020 going 13 furlongs over in Deauville in the G3, The Minerve.  The track was a little off that day but she handled it well.  She lead the field through the third call, but started running out of gas down the stretch for home.  She was caught but held on for second in that race.  She gets the services of jockey, J Benisz who is coming over from New Jersey to take the ride up top with this filly.  They will be headed out at post time to represent the All-Stars Racing residency.

Post Position: 2

Horse/Odds: Just A Wasp  8/1

Sire: Just A Way

Owner: rockfarms

Jockey: Q Piekarski

This Brown Filly had been running exclusively on the turf.  That is until her owner decided to give her a run on the dirt her last time out on 08/16/2020 when she went 9 furlongs in Illinois in the G3, The Chicago Oaks.  This first time run on the dirt was fairly good to her.  She was trying to put forth a little effort in the stretch for home and just missed the boards coming in fourth.  She ran her top speed rating on the dirt that day with a 109.  This former G1 winner that took the Vermont Is 4 Lovers back in February of this year and she will get the services of jockey, Q Piekarski who will be traveling in from Arizona.  He has a lot of horse to work with here and if he can keep her pointed in the right direction and fire at the right time they will have a good shot to take home a little money in this race.  They will be headed out in the post parade to the cheers of an excited crowd.

Post Position: 3

Horse/Odds: Octane Enforcer  4/1

Sire: Scratch Bred (INTO MISCHIEF x STREET CRY x DYNAFORMER)

Owner: maverick

Jockey: D Givins

This Bay Filly has proven she likes her trips to the winners circle.  She has ten career starts and has hit the boards in nine of those races along with picking up five wins in the process.  This included a win in the G1, California Oaks back in April of this season.  She was also the runner-up in the G1, Bluegrass Oaks.  She last hit the track here in New York on 08/15/2020 going 10 furlongs in the G1, Birmingham Stakes of which she made a late closing effort with a nice stretch run to pick up second in that race.  Her owner places the call to Kentucky to find jockey, D Givins available to take the mount.  This seasoned veteran jockey will have plenty of horse to work with in this race and I expect him to ask her to run at the third call.  If she fires she is going to be dangerous here and should put up a fighting effort to get to the wire.  They will be headed out at post time representing the Empire State Racing residency.

Post Position: 4

Horse/Odds: Une Nuit A Paris  4/1

Sire: War Front

Owner: nybredtrot

Jockey: O A Haack

This Bay Filly has been doing very well for her owner and will go off as the co-favorite in the morning line.  There is no doubt why this filly caught the eye of the odds makers today as she showed she had the goods when she last ran on 08/02/2020 in the Equinics in the G1, Great Sphinx and took home the prize.  She was back in eleventh at the third call and almost 6 lengths back when she found a new gear and blasted down the stretch to hit the wire first by two lengths.  She will be going for her third win in a row here on Saturday and she looks like a horse to contend with in this field.  Her owner has placed the call to Florida to find jockey, O A Haack available to come in and take to the saddle for this trip.  I expect him to ask this late closer to put the pedal to the metal down the stretch with a big closing effort with all others in the race watching for her in their rearview mirrors.  This pair will be headed out of the paddock and onto the track representing the Empire State Racing residency.

Post Position: 5

Horse/Odds: Grottos Pizza  8/1

Sire: Arrogate

Owner: desimster4

Jockey: M Kelly

This Roan Filly will go out to the track giving free advertisement to the Grottos Pizza restaurant chain that is mainly seen here in the eastern part of the United Stakes in the Delaware area.  But she will not be here on Saturday to make pizza pies when she heads to the track to face this group of contenders.  She is coming off two straight Allowance wins at the distance.  Both were in Delaware with her most recent coming on 08/11/2020 in a $19,500 NW4L Allowance.  She stalked the leader in that race and grabbed the lead late in that race to get up by a mere ¼ length for the win.  She is taking a big jump back up in Class here which is a little concerning since her only other Graded attempt did not go so well for her.  She gets her favorite jockey, M Kelly for this race and they have proven in the past to work very well together.  They will be headed out to their gate on Saturday to represent the Blazing Saddles residency.

Post Position: 6

Horse/Odds:  Ocaptainmycaptain  7/1

Sire: Tapit

Owner: asrtapit

Jockey: E Seifert

This Light Grey Filly has been putting up some nice runs lately for her owner.  She showed a good effort in the Equinics in the G1, Great Sphinx where she barely missed hitting the boards when she came in fourth in that race.  She ran 10 furlongs in that race in Vermont back on 08/02/2020 with a 104 speed rating.  Although just an Allowance winning filly she is not to be discounted in this race.  She has shown in the past that she has the heart to compete at this level and now seeks to add to her accolades and résumé.  Her owner has put in the call to jockey, E Seifert who has flown in from Argentina to take the mount up top in this race.  He has a nice little filly to work with here and a good pop of the whip around the third call could get her attention to fire in her stretch run.  This pair will be headed out to the track on Saturday representing the All-Stars Racing residency.

Post Position: 7

Horse/Odds: Sioux Dreams 10/1

Sire: Sioux Nation

Owner: jastables23

Jockey: V Jef

This Light Grey Filly has a Stakes Placing badge to her credit but has struggled in her eleven career starts to find the winners circle at the stakes level.  He made one attempt to run in a G1 race in the past of which she was met with great disappointment.  I also must question her ability to travel successfully this 9 furlong distance of which she has not been consistent in the past.  Her last outing came on 08/16/2020 in Oklahoma when she ran in the High Flyer Dirt Filly Mile.  She just never seemed to get going against this field of horses she competed against and finished way back in a disappointing seventh place when she lingered across the wire.  She is taking a big jump in Class for this race and I have much concern that this may be too much too soon for her at this time.  She will get the services of jockey, V Jef that was contracted to come in from Idaho to take the ride up top with this filly.  He will need his full bag of tricks and a snappy whip to keep her in contention when they head out to represent the Empire State Racing residency.

Post Position: 8

Horse/Odds: My Trak March  78/1

Sire:  Tizway

Owner: lightng118

Jockey: J Sands

This Brown Filly has been running in Local races over in Dubai in her most recent trips to the track.  The odds makers have some concerns as they have shown in their morning line making this filly their longest choice in the field.  Honesty is the best policy and I must say I share in some of their concerns.  This filly had never ran a speed rating better than 87 and that is just not going to cut it on Saturday when she faces these “Mean Girls” in this event.  She is also taking a big jump in Class and has never ran at the Graded level in the past.  Her last race came on 07/30/2020 when she went 11.5 furlongs in Dubai in a Local $75,000 Allowance.  This was against a five horse field of light weight contenders and she managed to come in second.  She gets the service of jockey, J Sands who is a seasoned jockey from Wyoming that is coming in to take the mount up top.  The owner makes this jockey change for his filly with the hope that he will spark a new found interest for this nicely bred filly.  They will be headed out at post time to their gate to the sounds of the roaring crowd.

Post Position: 9

Horse/Odds: A Giant Impact  6/1

Sire: Deep Impact

Owner: asrstar9

Jockey: B Scott

This Bay Filly has been known to run on the dirt track earlier in her career, but has been running on the turf surface this season.  She makes a return to dirt for this race and she is not one to be discounted in this field.  She collected her G1 badge on the turf in South Africa when she ran in the Wooly Mammoth 2000.  But her last trip to the track was also on the turf when she ran in Japan in the Equinics in the G1, Leaning Tower.  This was a hotly contested race of which there was a photo finish between three horses and she came up short by a mere neck at the wire.  This filly will have a jockey change in this race as her owner has made the call to veteran jockey, B Scott from Massachusetts that he is in hope can lead his filly to the finish line first in this race.  This should make for a good pairing as this filly returns to the dirt.  They will be headed out to the ninth gate on Saturday representing the All-Stars Racing residency.

Post Position: 10

Horse/Odds: Flaming Doro  12/1

Sire: Scratch Bred: (MEDAGLIA D’ORO x MR. PROSPECTOR x NIJINSKY 2ND)

Owner: jastablesscrap

Jockey: C Capper

This Light Grey Filly seems to have found her stride for her owner and broke her Maiden in June of this year and came back to collect a nice Allowance win on 08/01/2020 here in New York going 9.5 furlongs in a $48.700 NW2L with a 101 speed rating.  She is only an Allowance winner coming into this race, but she has shown improvement with every race.  This is a well bred scratch bred filly and if you are going to the betting window she might be a good shot to put on some of your exotic tickets.  This filly, I feel will continue to improve, but has she improved enough for this race as she takes a big jump in Class to compete against these more experienced horses of which she will face on Saturday?  Her owner has place the call to jockey, C Capper who is based out of Iowa to come in and take to the saddle with his filly.  This horse could surprise in this field when she heads out to represent the Empire State Racing residency.

Post Position: 11

Horse/Odds: Arborgate  9/1

Sire: Scratch Bred: (MASTERY x MARIA’S MON x EASY GOER)

Owner: oakridge11

Jockey: F Allen

This Roan Filly is a nice looking girl and in her last outing she finally broke into a triple digit speed rating for the first time when she ran on 07/19/2020 in Pennsylvania going 9 furlongs in a $43,800 NW3L Allowance race.  He closed after the third call being more than seven lengths back and got up for the win by 3 ½ lengths.  She is a prior Listed Stakes winner but she has struggled when trying to step up in Class to the Graded level.  This 9/1 filly will have much to prove here in New York to show she has what it takes to compete at this level.  She gets a familiar jockey, F Allen from California that will take the ride up top.  He knows this horse, but he will have to get this late closer to fire big when they round the turn and head for home.  They will be loading into the final gate at race time representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

Good luck to all owners and horses!

Skippy’s Watch List

3-Octane Enforcer: Put up a nice effort in the Equincs.  She might get another G1 win?

4-Une Nuit A Paris: Was the winner in the Great Sphinx and she looks for three in a row.

6-Ocaptainmycaptain: Just missed hitting the board in the Equinics. She might be there this time?

Tarton’s Long Shot

10-Flaming Doro: This Allowance winning filly keeps improving but can she show some Class against this tough and rumble field?  This is her first Graded attempt but is coming off two nice wins as she climbs the ladder.  Let’s give this one a try on some exotic tickets on Saturday.
