Luck O’ The Irish

Well what a better way to start off the New Year then to travel to Ireland for a little horse racing. The one mile and three-sixteenths race is run on turf and consists of an eleven horse field with a mixture of colts and fillies. What lucky horse, residency, owner and jockey will claim the title of this EAAA Division Challenge?

PP-1 142398 Franklin Terrace(IRE) Stormcat55 Z Kentucky 6/1

Franklin Terrace, a three-year-old colt, is one of two who will represent the Alpine Turf Club. He has won two stakes races, including The Smash Claim Stakes and the ATC Juvenile Turf Championship coming from behind. He took a grand second in The UQG Sprinter Challenge as well as The Admiral River Special and has managed four wins and three places in seven starts.

PP-2 142448 Sunlight Serenade(GER) Dazzler E C Doyle
5/1

Sunlight Serenade is a chestnut colt out of Monsun and will be one of the lucky colts to be representing the EAAA residency. After winning a couple of allowances races, he’s trying his first stakes race. He likes to run in front, but we’ll see how well our front-runners handle a mile and three-sixteenths.

PP-3 140624 Yasutora(CO) Daedalus A Reed 9/2

Ireland must have drawn the lucky straw to have the favorite, Yasutora, representing their residency. Owned by Daedalus and ridden by A Reed, the three-year-old chestnut colt took his first chances on the track in a stakes race; The Vikings Turf Special and taking second. He took another second in The Coon Creek Memorial and finally won the Irish Futurity Turf just last month. Sired by Eckelson and out of the game dam The Seventh One, he likes coming from behind to make a strong finishing first. Ireland must be feeling the luck o’ the Irish with their lucky favorite.

PP-4 74868 Bonus Boy(KY) Canismajor M Russel 7/1

Bonus Boy, owned by Canismajor, came in second in his last race, The Mister Que Stakes, but grabbed The GP Breeder’s Bowl Juvy Turf Mile title. With eight starts, two wins and four seconds, he’s already made his earning close to $95,000. Sired by Storm Cat and out of the game dam A Firm Shaft (Mineshaft), this colt will be representing the Great Plains Residency.

PP-5 137784 Flying Kitten(KY) Sorrento X Bowden 8/1

Flying Kitten, the first filly lined up in the field of what looks to be mostly colts. She’s the second leading contestant in the field for earnings and has a stakes win (The Hooves of Thunder Memorial) as well as taking a third in the G1 World Cup Juvenile Filly Turf. She likes to sit about midfield and will be representing Queensland.

PP-6 95512 Mysterious LIght(ENG) Coolk2 I M Buttons 8/1

Mysterious Light, a three-year-old brown colt has only won his maiden. He came from behind the field to make a gallant win, and comes into the race with pretty nice odds. Sired by Pivotal and out of the game dame Will O’ The Wisp (Sadler’s Wells), this colt is running for EAAA Racing.

PP-7 138568 Irish Ranger(KY) Dancards F Dirks 12/1

Another colt racing for Ireland, Irish Ranger comes looking to add a stakes race to his racing record. But having placed second in his last race, an allowance race, the handicappers aren’t giving him much of a chance with odds at 12/1. Running in front defiantly won’t be easy in this field.

PP-8 143544 Absolute Grand(JPN) ccc D Nickesy 9/1

Absolute Grand is the last three-year-old colt racing for Ireland in this race. Under the guiding hand of D Nickesy, maybe he’ll add a stakes win to his record. He took third in The Graphic With Jumbo Memorial and has found that running front doesn’t get you as dirty. He was sired by Grandera and out of the game dam Other Then Buda (T.M. Opera O).

PP-9 148398 Mountain Fort(SAF) safbred D White 56/1

Mountain Fort, a three-year-old filly, out of Fort Wood, comes into EAAA Division Challenge with no wins, just a third in The Alpine Turf Club Fillies. She’s the runt out of the eleven-horse field, but don’t turn your back on her. She just might surprise everyone.

PP-10 9014 Iceshimmer(SAF) Billy M Fontain 9/1

Iceshimmer, a three-year-old dark grey colt, owned by Billy, has won two allowance races plus his maiden and took a third in The Virginia Danseur Bonanza. He likes to run about midfield and is sired by Daylami. Iceshimmer is the last who will be representing EAAA Racing.

PP-11 98129 Rock Bar(JPN) Dowelly D Doyle 7/1

This little lady is the last lucky girl to be able to run in the EAAA Division Inter-Residency Challenge Stakes. Rock Bar, out of Rock of Gibraltar, has earnings of $73,650. With five starts and three wins, placing second in The Minnesota Lassie Stakes and running against Flying Kitten in the G1 World Cup Juvenile Filly Turf Mile, she did manage to win her last race. She’ll be racing for Queensland.

Good luck to all the contestants, and may the Luck O’ Irish be with you.
