1 | 10/1 | 5yo out of a “G” rated mare. Horse was run into the rail in last, and took a nasty spill. Thankfully no serious injury came of it, but was given some rest to heal from the trauma. Last big run by this horse was the latter part of ’06 into the first few months of ’07. At that point he had clicked off 5 W’s in a row including two G1’s. Hind sight is better than no sight, but it appears he needed a long break to regroup. Instead he ran pretty much on a monthly basis and has faired poorly since. With the recent trauma and his poor showings lately, it is improbable he will show up here. Maybe his previous class will pull him out of his slump.
2 | RAGING RIVER | 7/1 |
Since this is an inter rez contest, we try to place the best of our horses in. This 5yo mare out of a “D” rated he/mare has racked up 3 W’s in her last outs at 14f. She won impressively in all three. One try at today’s distance was miserable for whatever reason. It appears that was a fluke and she should be able to handle this. Looking back at her PP’s, she may be a better dirt animal. Since she is lightly raced, and her breeding suggests a few more tries at say 10f.
3 | ZIPPY DA DO DA | 8/1 |
Former claimer, this 5yo mare scratch bred to City Zip has been struggling as of late just to cash a minor check. There are signs that she does her best at 12-13f and this may be asking too much. Not saying she can’t get the distance, but her nice wins came at shorter. However this is for the pride of the rez and she’ll give it her best go.
4 | TRUE DREAM | 9/2 |
This 5yo scratch bred mare to Sadler’s Wells can offer some seriousness to the favorite #11. Lightly raced and winning 50% of her starts is a great feat. She loves 10-12f but has one win at the distance today. Depending on the way the race shapes up; she can take the lead or stalk. Distance is still the issue and she will have to be rated properly. Her class in this may get her over that hump.
5 | CROWN HUNTER | 20/1 |
Third owner for this former $2000 claimer. However, the “Dow” man usually gets the most out of his barns. This 5yo is certainly competitive at a lower class level and distance is no problem. Horse is however, going against a pretty tough bunch here. We’ll have to see if any trainer magic rubs off in this.
6 | IN THE LODGE( | 81/1 | 7yo scratch bred by Grand Lodge that is going for his 46th start. Has never shown to be much more than a claimer. This is not a knock on his ability but gives insight into what he’s against in this. We give credit to any horse that can stay competitive at any level after 45 races.
7 | LIL LISAS SLURRY( | 33/1 |
Most of us would love to have this filly. Scratch bred to Montjeu and a winner 1st time out of the box at 9.5f; this darling bred is going places. This is a gamble by trainer who really wants Alpine to look good in this competition. Hopefully he won’t set this gal back on her heels for a spell. We wish you the best.
8 | MAADLY(TUR) | 6/1 |
Outstanding filly that has her eyes on improving her status as #14 ranked in her division. This only after 11 races! She’s scratch bred to
9 | 10/1 |
Yikes! 7yo scratch bred running in his 62nd race and still very competitive. Loves the distance and eased up to a 4 length win in last. Ran most of his career at distances not suited to him or he may have double the wins his record shows. Even though a claimer/starter type, he has the ability to show some grit in this. EAAA racing will be rooting him on.
10 | 26/1 |
This is the seventh owner of this steed. Certainly better on dirt than turf and at much shorter. However, when pride is on the line, we do the best we can. Present trainer has got the most out of this 5yo and will till next month when tag runs out. However, in this race odds aren’t the best for getting in the top three.
11 | 2/1 | ||||||
12 | HARRISKY(KY) | 11/1 |
Alpine is hoping this NW3L colt will find his nice breeding quickly. He ran 2nd in one of their own events last out at 12f. He also got the distance three back in an allowance, but not at the speed needed here to be in the hunt. A very nice colt, but seems to need maturing.
Being a mgr. of a rez, there will be no picks here. However, all the residencies have a decent shot at coming out on top. Best of racing luck to all J
