1 | REBEL | 13/1 | Pyeman’s marathon mare is going for the big 50 in this. At age 7, she still exhibits her will to win as attested by her 2nd place finish in the grueling 2 mile events she loves. One would have to think the clock is ticking and one day she will just up and quit due to her age and W&T. That will be a sad day for the sim. However, that day has yet to arrive. So we wish her a safe return in this, but don’t expect a great effort. In the language she speaks this is just a workout sprint. Jockey A. Short proudly donned the silks of the stable on this her 50th and last start of 2007.
2 | DANZING THEATRE( | 7/1 |
With only 16 starts, this 3yo filly is already making imprints as one of the best in her division for years to come. She is out of an “H” rated mare that already has had one other graded progeny. She was 1st across the line in the World Cup and ran a very respectable 4th in the BB Distaff. In her last out she pressed the pace at 14 panels; look for her to lay back some in here as is her natural style.

4 | WICKED WENCH( | 6/1 |
Big time threat here. This 4yo filly comes back from a layoff in her last out to finish 2nd in a wild finishing effort. Kicking the barn doors down, she is more than ready for this. She’s a 3 time graded winner and won’t be intimidated here.
5 | 9/1 |
Another entry from the Pyeman’s stables. He’s been grooming this filly to become a consistent stakes winner, and now tries a jump to the next class. Her one try during the summer at the highest level was a little premature. Slowly gaining confidence with a series of 1st’ and 2nds, he will test her once again. This field isn’t as tough, so she may bring home a check.
6 | CURRENT EVENT(CA) | 93/1 |
Former claimer that still is.
7 | KID THUNDER | 15/1 |
4yo filly out of a mysterious he/she mare that is rated “E”. Why such a rating baffles us. The stats must be in error on the horse’s record. Aside from that, this gal is shooting for her 4th straight victory. She was claimed way back in 2006 for $13,500 and has slowly been groomed by present trainer to become a very nice allowance router. She stepped up in her last to take a listed stakes and now challenges the graded ranks yet again. If she can duplicate or improve on her last SP, she may be a factor here.
8 | SHEZA MANIAC | 11/1 |
4yo scratch bred from the GRS crowd. With only 15 starts she has already shown signs of some talent at a higher level. Went through conditions relatively easy; won a listed stakes and had a big effort in a G2 event two races back. Didn’t care for the off going in her last and still has gas in the tank for this. We wouldn’t be surprised to see another awesome effort here.
9 | KISS OF BETRAYL( | 17/1 |
Out of a “G” rated mare, this filly is a listed/graded stakes winner from the
10 | CACHE(SAF) | 9/2 |
Scratch bred 4yo filly donned the favorite in this. With over a million in the bank in only 22 starts; along with 2 graded wins, this seems to be logical. We need to be a little cautious after her rest of almost 2 months. She may need this race as it’s been awhile since she’s seen the winner’s circle. The placement here is a good one and she may have just enough to pull this off.
11 | 9/1 |
5yo scratch bred mare that is rounding to form. A winner in her last allowance event, she appears to be back on track after a couple of mediocre tries. A proven 10 panel graded winner, this may be a bit long. The mare has only cracked the 100SP twice in her career, so it’s hard to list her as consistent when push comes to shove. Reserving judgment here till she proves otherwise.
12 | WACKY FUSACKI | 9/1 |
This scratch bred filly may be wacky, but 9 W’s in 16 starts is a good wacky. A winner of multiple listed stakes, she will once again try the graded ranks. She hasn’t fared well at this level in the past. After her last huge effort she may now be ready to pull the trigger. Her speed should keep her right there on the pace and may just blow this field away. We look for a good effort here.
13 | 21/1 |
Lightly raced 3yo filly out of a “D” rated mare that has already produced a graded winner. She still has a couple of conditions to meet, but the switch from dirt to the turf has produced some exciting results recently. This jump usually produces one of two results. A great effort to show her class or a backward step in confidence. Trainer has been around long enough, so we won’t judge the placement. Filly is versatile and will either press pace or lay a few lengths back.
14 | CONDEMNATION | 9/1 |
Scratch bred 4yo filly sired by Kingmambo. She runs out of the Lenny empire stationed at GRS. This gal was nursed along slowly to gain the confidence need to step up and deliver in the bigger events. She has proven that she is full of herself by running with abandon in her last two starts. Since cracking the 100SP barrier, she’s ready for the big dances and should be there at the wire.
A wide open affair that should be fun to watch. Just for kicks I’m placing a few bucks on the #8.
