The Polar Halo Stakes

This week in China is the running of The Polar Halo Stakes, a race that is a mile and five sixteenths in distance with a tantalizing prize pot of $80,000. The weather here in China has been cool and pleasant, the dirt track will probably be listed as fast for Saturday’s race. Eight horses, three years of age or older has drawn into The Polar Halo Stakes, lets take a peek at the competition.

In the inside slot will be the five year old Placebo Too (Favorite Trick x Tejano x Dewan) owned and trained by pcmatt . This brown horse has a total of thirty-four starts in his career, three of which have been wins. This muscular horse’s last start was in Dubai in the eight furlong Boston Seattle Bonanza Stakes were he posted a speed figure of 104 and finished second. His last win was in a starter allowance race in Germany with a speed figure of 99. This horse was actually once a claimer and has now become a true rags to ritches story. Placebo Too will be ridden by jockey R. Gong and is at odds of 5:1.

In the next post position is a four year old homebred colt, Auror World (Spinning World x Storm Cat x Forty Niner) and out of the graded stakes winning dam Auror Storm. This tall colt is trained and owned by auror . This brown colt has 30 starts to his name, of which 10 are wins. His last start was in the Grumpy Old Man Marathon (Grade II) were he finished a lackluster eleventh and turned in an 85 speed figure. His last win wast in the 13 furlong Sickly Bust (GB) Memorial Stakes where he won by 4 1/4 lenghts and posted a 95 speed figure. Though his speed figures have been steadily declineing his past three starts, auror thinks that he has been restored to his past racing form.

Folling will be Nothingbuteasy (Silver Deputy x Easy Goer x Riva Ridge) trained by foton . Like most of the other contenders this five year old brown homebred has upwards of thirty career starts. His last start came in the ten furlong Cordella P. Cap where he finished third by four lengths. His last win was in Sweden during The Chief Crowded Challenge Stakes where he posted a 103 speed figure. The jockey for Nothingbuteasy will be An. Mitchell, they are also going off at odds of 5:1.

In the middle post position will be Majesty’s Way (GB) (Diesis (GB) x Assert (IRE) x His Majesty) owned and trained by dpbstables . This magnificent chestnut five year old is one of only two foreign horses in this field and like the others has upwards of thirty starts. His last start was in Malaysia in the ten furlong Scapped River Special Stakes where he finished second by a head and posted a 104 speed figure. His last victory was the race right before the Scapped River Special and was the 9 and one half furlong War Gulch Special Stakes, also held in Malaysia. This horse is going off as the favorite with odds of 9:2 and with jockey B. Ball riding.

In the number five slot is Wyld Stallyon (Kingmambo x Blushing John x Grey Dawn II) and out of graded stakes winning mare Debee’s Belief and is owned and trained by steelewolf . This is one of the few horses in this field that has had less than thirty career starts to his name. His last start was in nearby Hong Kong in an allowance race where the horse finsihed third and posed a 101 speed figure. His last win was an allowance race in Dubai at ten furlongs. This horse will be ridden by jockey L. Denney.

Next is Tribal Laxe (Tribal Rule x Torrential x Son Of A Buck) and out of the mare Five Idea, and is owned and trained by magoo2912 . This is another of the horses with less than thirty starts, though this brown four year old colt has been out in 29 starts, only two of those have been wins. This colts last start was in a starter allowance race where he finished third with a speed figure of 79. His last win was in South Africa during an eight and one half furlong claiming race, in which he posted a speed of 85. This colt seems outclassed by the rest of this field of stakes winners. Though an accomplished claimer and decent allowance horse he is perhaps not ready for this type of competition. Tribal Laxe will be ridden by M. Vinson and is going off as the longshot at odds of 38:1.

In the number seven post is Goodrunofbadluck (Royal Academy x Kaldoun (FR) x Le Fabuleux) and is out of the stakes winning mare Late Saddle (FR). This brown homebred horse is trained by goody2 . This horse has had over forty career starts, his last start was in an allowance race in Japan where he finished fifth. His last victory was in an alloance race in Montana at 10 furlongs. This horse hasn’t won a stakes race in a while but goody2 and jockey M. Hogin believe that Goodrunofbadluck could steal the show.

And in the far outside post position is Present Camp (IRE) (Campo Catino (IRE) x A Present Of Song (IRE) x Executive Pride (IRE)) trained and owned by nappyroots . This is our other foreign horse in the fild and our other horse with less than thirty starts. His last start was in Portugal in The Bubba Storm Stakes where the four year old colt finished fourth. Before that start he had two back to back wins in starter allowance races. This colt has not finished out of the money in his last eighteen starts. He will be going off at odds of 9:1 with jockey S. Weller riding.
