KEPLER CRO COR C(KY)

marianus

M Tippett

7/2

3yo out of a “C” rated mare.  Trained by one of the Swedish boys I believe?  A lot of Kepler’s running in the sim.  Colt won a few sprints as a 2yo and then started to improve at distance in the middle of this year.  Now a full blown classic type that’s just beginning to make a mark in the graded ranks.  He’s a front running fiend that says “catch me if you can”.  With a few others that appear to have the same style, it will be interesting to say the least.  He couldn’t quite hold it together at 13f in last, but is now back to a preferred distance.  Contender.

JOLLY DM HOUSE(WA)

M Fontain

12/1

Scratch bred 3yo sired by Jolly Jouster.  Sire has passed on recently and is only available for 3yos this year.  The Jouster hasn’t had a stakes winner since 2000 and most progeny are claiming types.  This colt is one of his best progeny and he has gone through conditions well.  Tried a 13f listed stakes last out and finished 3rd.  He appears not to be a big threat in this, but may contest the pace.  Any flaws in his class will show up in this.

DRUNKEN PIRATE(KY)

Who can forget the ruckus over this guy in the World Cup?  TB was a gentleman about it, but a few others weren’t so gracious.  Last out was a 2 mile G2 marathon and the colt may have been drunk (or was TB tipping a few).  The Pirate has only one good run in graded events, but he’s back to a distance that suits him better.  He’s had a light schedule to date and is still a little green.  He has good classic breeding out of a “C” rated mare.  The next six months will let us know exactly what to expect of him in the future.  If he’s ready, look for a solid late run.

PJ QUICK PINT

This is this old-timer’s 56th start.  He’s won claimers, starters, allowances, and last out a 13f listed stakes event.  He’s had 4 owners and run respectable on the green stuff also.  He’s been there and done that except in the graded ranks.  Although we love this gutsy guy, it would take a whole lot of something to see him win at this level.  Put on your PJ’s, grab a pint, and cheer him on…the old guy deserves it.

JAY’S COMBAT

12/1

4yo scratch bred by Unbridle’s Song with solid DS and DDS lines.  Through conditions and a listed stakes win; this colt hasn’t met the expectations of such wonderful blood.  He is coming back after a layoff and a lackluster outing at 2 miles in last.  This distance suits much better, but he’ll have to show he belongs with this crowd.  A couple of tries on turf couldn’t hurt as he has some green in his veins.

KING HAPPY(IRE)

The King is happy because he is the best of four progeny out of a “C” rated mare.  Although still eligible for NW3L, he did a W two races back at 12 panels.  Now with two races of 100+SP, he is placed against some tough competition in this.  More than likely he will have to stay within a few lengths of the leaders to have a chance in this.  If it doesn’t pan out, filling conditions should be a priority so as not to discourage.

This sugarcoated donut could have been purchased at one time for a paltry $3,500.  Now he’s filled with the finest of jellies.  Reminds me of Forrest Gump…ya never know what you’re gonna get.  This being his sixth owner, KC has come home.  He’s finally being treated as he always felt he should.  The best hay and oats topped with the finest of minerals and his own vet to handle the misuse of his previous years on the track.  Although this event may be a bit too much, he’s as happy as a horse can be.

BAND SEEKER

3/1

4yo Dixieland Band scratch bred.  The favorite in this.  Colt has broke 100SP in his last eight starts…consistent to say the least.  The one concern is his 0 wins in graded to date.  As the favorite one would expect to see at least one W in G company in those starts.  This may be that race, but until it is; one has doubts.

This colt comes from one of my stables and is running in this as his 1st try at the level.

Earnings statement tells all.  14 W’s with less than 80K in the bank.  Should trainer be asahmed of him…no way, the other nine trainers weren’t.  This entry is a victory statement….giving everyone a look at a claim come true.

We’re thinking that speed may just hold up in this…the Kepler guy.
