The Ghostly Gallop Part 2 (by Naskippy)

Part 2 of Ghostly Gallop race by Naskippy

Post Position: 9

 Horse/Odds: Mutombo’s Finger 5/1

Sire: Pioneerof The Nile

Owner: algernop

Jockey: B Renfroe

This young colt appears to most likely be the most experienced in the field and the odds makers have rewarded him for that as they make him the other co-favorite in this race. Jockey, B Renfroe from out of Ontario gets the call to take the ride with this Brown colt out of the EOY, G1 winning mare Benchian Fingers. He has raced only three times and has already found a GP badge for the trophy case which came in his last trip to the track in Ohio on 08/31/2019 in the G3, Buckeye Juvenile. He traveled 8.5 furlongs and showed up to the wire in 3rd just ½ length off the lead and put up a nice 96 speed rating. This horse looks hungry for a G3 win here in Vermont.

Post Position: 10

Horse/Odds: Hard Rock Jungle 10/1

Sire: Rock Slide

Owner: fastnfirm

Jockey: J Benisz

This Bay colt took to the track on 09/22/2019 in West Virginia for his first Listed Stakes, Similar Paths Stakes. He was on his game that day as he make his move around the third call to make a challenge for the wire. He showed up a little late but crossed the wire in 2nd that day with a respectable 93 speed rating. Seasoned veteran jockey, J Benisz gets the call to ride up top for this race and try and bring this 10/1 choice home. In three career starts he has never missed the boards and will try to keep his résumé intact. He could be a good horse to but on some tickets at the betting window on Saturday.

Horse/Odds: Laser Surgery 11/1

Sire: Pollard’s Vision

Owner: marineboy0

Jockey: J Migliore

At the very least I must say I love the name of this Bay colt. But that is not all one has to say about this 11/1 choice in the morning line. He has three career starts and wasted no time in racking up three straight wins and is on a Hot Streak. He comes to the race lacking in stakes experience, but so do many other horses in this field. His last trip to the track came on 09/12/2019 in Louisiana going 8 furlongs in a $75,000 Allowance. He took control after the second call and lead the field to the wire winning by 3 lengths. He had a 91 speed rating that day. If he can bring that forward with him here to Vermont he could be a threat.

 Horse/Odds: Justify Is A Giant 10/1

Sire: Justify

Owner: stockswami20

Jockey: K Banner

On this colts third trip to the track he broke his maiden in his last outing on 08/27/2019 in Kentucky when he seemed to like his first trip around two turns. He went gate to wire over the 8.5 furlongs to show the way home to the rest of the field of which he bested by 1 ¾ lengths. He takes a jump in Class and will have jockey, K Banner from Pennsylvania taking the trip with him. He will need to prove he has the ability to run with some of the more experienced horses in this field.

Post Position: 13

Horse/Odds: To Fill The Race 7/1

Sire: Will Take Charge

Owner: given5

Jockey: J Piotrowski

This Grey colt will get the services of jockey, J Piotrowski in the saddle to ride this SP badge earner. In this horses last two outing he has raced in Listed Stakes races and showed up the groomsman both times coming in second. In seven career starts he has missed the boards only one time. He last ran on 09/22/2019 in the Get In Fast Stakes in Wyoming. He took to the front at the third call but lost the lead down the stretch coming for home to show up 2nd by 1 ½ lengths in that race. This horse will try to capitalize on his prior stakes experience and could be a threat at or near the front in this race.

Post Position: 14

 Horse/Odds: Va Conflicted 6/1

Sire: Cross Traffic

Owner: mfwoodward

Jockey: D Fendlay Jr.

Another seasoned jockey and crowd pleaser from here in Vermont in D Fendlay Jr. will get the mount with this Grey Colt sired in Kentucky. He has only two career starts but has won both of his races. He broke his maiden in July of this year at 6.5 furlongs and then took the track again in Kentucky going 7.5 furlongs in a $48,700 NW2L Allowance. He put up a nice 92 speed that day, but the haunting question will be, can this horse travel around two turns going 8.5 furlongs? In looking at the breeding this has to be a question that must be answered and will have to come from this horse. This is an excelling opportunity to show he can bring that speed forward and travel the distance.

Good luck to all horses and all owners of this race. Most importantly have fun!!!

Skippy’s Watch List

Mutombo’s Finger: It is hard not to put this horse on your tickets at the betting window. He proved he can go the distance in Graded company.

Hard Rock Jungle: Had a nice second place in a Listed Stakes his last trip with a 93 speed.

Lazer Surgery: Hard to argue when a horse has three straight wins. But can he do it at the Stakes level?

Tarton’s Long Shot

Tikatock: Never off the boards in six career starts but does lack in Stakes experience. This is a good 13/1 choice to look at on some exotic tickets at the betting window. Sorry, but I already used him for my Tip A Horse this week.
