Booker T. Mile
In 2 YO Graded Stakes its not the speed record but the breeding that wins. The 8th running of the Booker T. Handicap at 1 Mile on the Turf at
OH TO BE ROYAL
Lordpye is sending this Zabeel filly out for its third race. She broke her maiden at mile two races back. This horse expects to wins this race by race by charging out to lead, yet many in this field have more speed.
LOST RELATIVE
Trotter has a beautifully bred Kris Kin x Awesome Again filly. This filly has won 3 of its first five starts including a stakes race in its last start. This will be its first attempt a mile. Two races back its running style switched from front running to stalking the leaders. Low speed numbers but a speed duel by front runners could benefit this filly.
Texasace has dangerous ReDoute’s Choice x Red Ransom filly in this spot. This top notch closer has won back to back races at 6.5 furlongs. Keep your binoculars on the rear of the pack and watch for
Jmsstable has done nice job with this filly. It has been brought up slowly especially after its devastating first race. This filly will be right off the leaders at the start and with its win at 7.5 furlongs in the last race will give betters a nice long shot to look at. There is too much star power in this race, but watch for this horse at a latter date. The O/T has done has nice job getting it prep for the big time.
SISSON’S ACTRESS
Devil looks like it has been prepping this Empire Maker filly for just this race. The O/T has been stretching this horse with each start. This winner of its last two races is coming off a rest of 9 weeks and its last race it has lot left in the tank. This little filly is dangerous longshot in its first attempt at the stakes, but keep an eye on this horse as it will sit right off the leaders and wait for its opportunity.
RUNNING SILLY
Godolfin has the 15th ranked 2YO in this race. The Dansili x Montjeu bred filly has won its last two race at this distance. She has big numbers and like run right up front and with her big kick it could be over before quickly. The only problem for this fan favorite is that will be running on just 3 weeks rest and its previous races were at six weeks rest.
SMART STUFF
This Smarty Jones x Sadler’s Wells filly has 2 wins in its five starts with both those victories on the turf. This horse is perfectly set for the distance. In its last two races it has gone wire to wire for the victory and won each with more in the tank. Speed numbers are low and this is its first attempt at stakes race.
CEOLTAS
This Sinndar x Kris S. filly is a co-favorite in the race. She broke her maiden in her only start at 1 mile with a very good speed number seven weeks. This horse is scary, its well rested and wants to sit right of the leaders and wait for the big finish. If pace makes the race jhenry will be celebrating another stakes winner.
BULLISH HUNTER
This Jade Hunter filly’s last race had a good number, but finished third in a seven horse field. This horse I think will find some tough running in today graded stakes race. The O/T does know something, its last race was in
CRYSTAL HAWKS
This 2YO is still trying to find its running style. If she tries to run up front with the others its gonna be a quick ending. There is just too much speed in this race for this maiden winner.
EASTER PRAYER
Another Empire Maker filly has won its last two races using a front running style to easily win its maiden and an allowance. In its last race 4 weeks back it tired going a mile which causes some concern here.
BLUE ROSE
This Volponi x Slewacide filly broke its maiden in its last race and now takes a big step up in class to compete in the Grade III stakes race. It is another front runner in a race choke full of 2YO speedsters. Its has been in the money in all of its races but it will need a lot of luck to hang with these other monsters.
LOOK AT THE STARS
You gotta love the name of this Medicean x Peintre Celebre filly. She broke her maiden in its last race going to wire to wire at a 1 1/8 twelve weeks ago. If this filly is sharp there will be a log jam at the front of race creating an opportunity for those closers to steal this race.
Here is one of those closers I’ve talked about. This filly needs the distance as evidenced in its last race 6 weeks back. Good numbers and loves to way in the back waiting for its opportunity. Keep your eye on this one especially when it stretches out to 9 or 10 furlongs done the road.
Picking winners has not been my cup of tea. I’m 0-16 in public sim handicapping contest. Yet this race is intriguing with #6 horse Running Silly looking almost unbeatable been chased down the homestretch by Dolphin Bay and Dubai Property. My picks are 6 – 3 – 14.
