Expenditure, The Trident, And Gals Gone West Should Give a Show
On the rail will be Dance Of Death (5/1) a lovely filly by Mineshaft that has won her last two races including The Budget Breed at 10 furlongs. She has been racing in mostly restricted stakes among the tough DelPen group, and owner/trainer Sdmf8 points out that she has been first or second in her last five races. Since most of the top fillies are racing elsewhere this weekend the class jump will probably not matter.
Big Brown (6/1) is by Storm Cat and trained by Flurgen5. She has won three of her seven starts including The Beastie Danger at 11 furlongs. She finished second last time out in The Razor Expedition after leading most of the way. Big Brown – I love this name – may be an up-and-comer, she has improving speed figures and I will watch her with interest.
Asoiaf (Given) will saddle his Ghostzapper filly, The Trident (5/1). She is ranked # 11 and deservingly so, as she has won six of her 13 starts. Once this filly was stretched out she has been hard to beat. She has won four of her last six including The Old Glory at 12 furlongs and last time out in the aptly named Grade III,
Gals Gone West (9/2) is a daughter of Saint Liam and trained by Stoners. She has won five of her 13 starts, all five wins came in her last six races. While they were mostly at the allowance level, she did win The Alphaban Stakes, four back and finished second in The Door Behaving two back. She is another that is stepping up in class but this is a relatively soft field and is a good place to see what she can do.
The favorite will break from post five. One of two sired by Awesome Again in this race, Expenditure (9/5) is trained by Stupor2 (Lenny) and what a nice filly this is. She was a closing second in both of her last two races, one was a restricted Smackdown race two back and she also finished second in The Money Pit last time out. But she has won the Grade III, Tossing Cookies and placed fourth in the Grade I, A Fool And His Money Soon Part. Wow, what a nice filly! If she can get the distance, it’s her race to lose.
Rihanna will bring up Thunderation (14/1), a daughter of Vindication. She is a former claimer but has won three in a row for her new owner; including The Needle Nijinsky two back. However, she might be a tired horse, as she has started four times in the last seven weeks including just last week in a track allowance. This seems to be a case of make hay while the sun shines and this filly seems to be handling the work load.
Awesomeseekngold (9/2) is named for her breeding, can you guess it? Trained by Thebear20 she has won four of 12 starts including her last, The Amy’s Girl with a top notch speed figure of 104. Unfortunately she has not fared well when raced at the graded level, recently but she had been running well enough to make the field in the Grade I Chestnut last June. This could be the day she remembers what it’s all about.
On the outside is Jobbb Pete (29/1) a decently bred daughter of Point Given. She has had only five lifetime starts and with only a maiden win on the turf, doesn’t really belong here. Trainer Doodlsqbs should drop this filly back to a non-two and let her get some seasoning. She also doesn’t seem to like dirt in her face as she finished a dismal 11th in her only start over the main track. This could turn in to a decent sort but she needs to be at a lower level for a while.
That is the show for the Lenny G Show. There are some nice fillies in this race just waiting to breakout and shine. Good Luck to all.
