Its brollies up for Saturdays meeting at Ascot.Rain is in the air and its forecast to get into the ground as well but the hardened race-goer will no doubt still turn up to cheer on his investment in the hope of making a profit.A field of seven will be assembled for race 10 on the card,The DEPUTY DANE Challenge Stakes,run over 6 furlongs on the good turf for 2 year olds.
1)BROADWAY BLUE smokeglack 116
2 yo colt by Street Cry out of a grade D mare.3 runs 2 wins $55980.Winner of first 2 races,both on turf.First time up took a $23300 5 furlongs MSW at Maryland.Always lead and recorded a speed figure of 64.Next time out become a stakes winner when traveling to Louisiana and winning a 5.5 furlongs $70000 stakes,once again making every post a winning one and held on to go in by 3/4 length.Tried in grade 3 company lto on the dirt and did not disgrace himself over 6 furlongs despite not being fast enough to take up his usual frontrunning role,put up his fastest speed figure to date running a 78 to go down by 3 1/2 lengths.That run makes it debatable which is his surface but a 6 week break should see him as fresh as a daisy.R Williams has a fair chance on this 7/2 chance.
2)PALTICS COLT BG honeyj 0111
2 yo colt by Forestry out of a grade C mare.4 runs 3 wins $104880.On a roll,winning 3 in a row after not taking to the dirt on his debut.Very consistent winning speed figures in these 3 victories winning a 5.5 furlongs turf MSW with a 78 followed by a 6 furlongs turf allowance nw2l,taking the win with a 76.Lto became a stakes winner at Victoria when coming from off the pace to prove 2 lengths too good for the rest of the field and lifting a 6.5 furlongs $95000 open stakes.the winning speed figure a 77.He has the assistance of the top track jockey P Harzheim and goes off a 4/1 chance.
3)MILLVIEW GREENS millview1 0324
2 yo scratchbred filly by Tejano.4 runs 1 second 1 third $9193.Maiden entering stakes level,hence the 21/1 outsider odds.Probably would be good enough in her own class,but this stakes level is not it.Impossible looking task makes it easy for me to scratch her off the possible winners list.B Seifert will do the steering.

2 yo colt by Oratorio out of a grade E mare.6 runs 2 wins and a third $84750.Been a busy little colt squeezing in 6 runs since February and being rewarded 3 runs back with a stakes win over 6 furlongs turf at Queensland.Just got up and held on to win by 1/4 length and record a winning speed figure of 71.Highly tried next time out in a grade 3 where despite running a pb 72 finished down the field.Lto tried over 5.5 furlongs and just looked to be jaded,perhaps the rigors of a hard season taking their toll.Im afraid i can also put a line through this one.She goes off at 9/1 and H Philso is in the irons.
5)NEW DEAL azbear 116
2 yo colt by Spinning World out of a grade F mare.3 runs 2 wins $70080.Looked progressive until lto when 6.5 furlongs looked to stretch his stamina to the limit.Picked up a 5.5 furlongs turf MSW at China in his first race ,stretching clear of the field to win by a length and put up a 69 speed figure.Next time took on stakes company in Denmark,where he also encountered good turf for the first time,again over 5.5 furlongs.Passed this test with flying colours,winning by 1 1/4 lengths and running a 72.Went on to flop lto over the afore mentioned 6.5 furlongs.IMO still has it to prove at this 6 furlongs,and even at that would need a fair bit of improvement to trouble the judge here.10/1 is the price and M DAY rides.
6)BREAKDOWN DEFEND dkyoung2 152
2 yo colt by Redoubtes Choice out of grade C mare.3 runs 1 win and 1 second $44080.Smart colt looks like he can do it on both surfaces.Opened his career by winning a 6 furlongs turf $31800 MSW in France,running on strongly to win by a length.his 65 speed figure would be much improved next time out where it looked a tough task in a 6 furlongs grade 2 at Longchamp.Aquitted himself well in defeat,running a lifetime best 79 going under by 3 1/2 lengths.Lto ran a 77 when trying dirt for the first time and so nearly became a stakes winner when,just failing by a nose at Newmarket in a 5.5 furlongs stakes.Looks hard to beat today.B webb is aboard this 5/2 2f.
7)BLOODY INVINCIBLE hawkz43 3113
2 yo colt by Invincible Spirit out of a grade G mare.4 runs 2 wins and 2 thirds $59440.Has the highest speed figure in the race,coming in his 2nd outing at Victoria when losing his maiden tag in an owner restricted allowance.He sat always handy and ran on to take the spoils by 1 1/4 lengths and recorded an impressive 82.Trouble is for me he hasnt reproduced a run in the 80`s in 2 subsequent trips to the track,although he did run a 78 lto over 6.5 furlongs at NSW when finishing 3rd in a stakes.If he can get back to his best he can win this,if not he may find himself fighting for a place.T Moss will ride the 2/1 favourite.
