Tip A Horse Contest, Thank You drhet58

Tip A Horse, Thank You drhet58

I have been playing on this Sim for well over two years now.  Ever since I have joined I know that drhet58 has been hosting the Tip A Horse contest each week in the Forums.  This is a great contest for the membership and I personally enjoy trying my luck each week.  I know many others do as well.  This is a very easy contest and gives all players in the game the chance to make a few extra precious credits that we all love and need in playing the Sim.

This week alone I would like to point out to you that drhet58 shelled out according to my calculation 3,665 credits to various players participating in the Tip A Horse contest this week.  Those same 3,665 credits would cost over $35.  If you multiply that by 52 weeks as this is a weekly contest that would add up to be almost $200 worth of credits each year that he invests to give away to other players participating in the game.  I do not know how long exactly he has been doing this contest and giving away these credits, but I feel it is of a very kind gesture to the membership of which he certainly does not have to do.  I am grateful to have “givers” like this in the game when there are so many “takers” in the world today.  Helping and giving to others, just because.  How unselfish and kind is that.

I don’t know drhet58 other than what I have read in his profile in the forums.  That his name is Don and that he lives in Williamsburg, PA, is 59 years old and his Occupation is AmusementCO.Tech of which I have no idea what that is.  I think I have really only spoken to him on one occasion of which he was most kind.

I just want to say thank you to him for the Tip A Horse contest each week and the credits that he gives us all the opportunity to win.  It is a very kind and selfless gesture and it is very enjoyable each week.  I hope you will join me in just saying “Thank You” for his good deed, commitment to the Sim, and kind gesture to us.

Thank you Don!

NICE Gus!!…and the ” DON ” is very worthy of your compliment….He loves the players “:obviously” and hees no manager, just a nice guy doing what he can do…..he has no idea how special that is and in my view improves the morale in the sim dramatically.

I for one owe him many thanks…and beers..

I think I mad an error/typo in my calculations of the cost of credits each year. But I think the message is the same. He puts forth a lot of time and effort and credits in doing what he does. And for that he should we should thank him. 🙂

  • Yes we have to thank Don, but also huge thanks go to John (kyogle), who bankrolls the winner payout. Don covers all the lesser amounts. Great contest I look forward to every week.

I was unaware about John (kyogle). Yes then…Thanks to him too!

Thank you guys. Very generous of you all, not only to give credits away but also valuable time

The contest is very much appreciated and adds flavor to the game. I think the cost is a little under $2,000 a year with all the credits paid out during the weekly contest.

Well, this was totally unexpected! Thanks Gus and all others who replied.

One correction is needed, as pointed out by ric480. John (a.k.a. kyogle) created this contest before I even arrived here. He pays out the majority of the credits considering he covers the winner.

Without John, there would be no contest. So, a big thank you shout should go to him as well!

    Thanks again for the acknowledgement,
    Don

This note is an example of this man’s character. Though there is no question that his partner is essential to the operation and is deserving of at least an equal shout out (thanks John!!!), he doesn’t`t seem comfortable just accepting our gratitude. Although not knowing me at all he has helped me personally with advice in the chat, with breeding ideas, and handling the loss of the utility player. It is simsters like him that make this a great site!

      • Couldn’t have said it any better, Sunfish

As usual, Don is reluctant to accept his fair share of the credit

For those who don’t know, I am often absent from the contest, and while I still make my contribution, on those occasions Don runs the show alone. This is sometimes for a couple of months at a time

The contest, in it’s current form, has run for five and a half years without missing a week. There is only one person to thank for that. Thank you Don

It’s also worth mentioning Joel’s contribution. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think adding a ‘yearly’ aspect, which should reward the most regular players, has added another dimension.

Both Don and Joel have brought their own additions to a contest which was a tad one dimensional. Both of them were solely responsible for their own enhancements.

Great contest. Very popular. No risk, big payoffs. Perfect for this game.

Thanks John, Gus and Joel for all you do!

What I meant to say was Thanks to Gus for posting here. And thanks to John, Don and Joel for their enormous contribution to this great game.

I don’t play very often, but I’m amazed at this contest. Thanks Doc and Kyogle for doing every week. Such a great addition to the Sim. Time consuming to say the least.
