Welcome to sunny Arkansas for todays feature, the Go For It handicap over 6.5f on the dirt course. A fairly short field of 10 but at least half the runners look to be in with a chance. Lets take a look at them in racecard order-

DUBLIN LASS (STORM CAT x MR. PROSPECTOR x SEATTLE SLEW)

Some pedigree on this one and a really solid series of runs in stakes and Graded races, culminating in a best recent run of 109 to win a stakes over this trip. That makes her dangerous i any race and she will be sitting on or near the front the whole way. Must have a big chance.

BATTLEFIELD EARTH(GB) (DIESIS(GB) x KINGMAMBO x STORM BIRD)
This one appears more bred for turf at first glsnce but is another with a good series of runs, although she does tend to throw in the odd sub-par run for no apparent reason. Two runs of 111 in her last three races is impressive and based on those she would take some beating, but in between she ran a 95 which would see her last here. Must have a real chance but look out, in case she runs a clanger!

PAPER CHAMPION (MINING x AJDAL x PRIVATE ACCOUNT

Best recent run of 101 in an allowance and only one recent stakes victory means she will be up against it here. She has now run 33 races so there will be no improvement left, which means a mid field place at best. Would be better off back in allowance company, not in Graded racing.

BIRDS OF PARADISE (SEEKING THE GOLD x STORM BIRD x HALO)
Has two recent runs of interest, a 104 and a 110 both in graded races at around this trip but most of the other recent runs are poor, without any obvious reason. She has now run 47 times and it may be that age has caught up with her. Is probably stil capable of the occasional big run but that makes her very hard to recommend here. Probably nearer last than first.

DAILY AFFIRMATION (DANZIG x AFFIRMED x GONE WEST)
Another veteran who seems to have found a new lease of life, having won four races on the bounce with sp’s from 104 to 111. Only one of those were stakes races though and it’s hard to see a veteran of 39 races finding sustained improvement. If she could run another 111 she could well win but I think that’s a big ask and expect her to finish mid-pack.

TOO MANY LETTERS (FORTY NINER x CAHILL ROAD x TIME FOR A CHANGE)
An interesting runner here. A five year old with only 11 races and a personal best last run of 104 to win an allowance. Normally that wouldn’t be enough here but she is clearly still improving and is therefore dangerous. Negatives are that she hasn’t won a stakes yet never mind a Graded race and therefore I think that she might find it hard to win today, but with moreexperience she looks as though she could be winning this sort of race before long.

NAILED TO THE GUN (JAVA GOLD x CONQUISTADOR CIELO x VALID APPEAL)
Not a lot to recommend here. A best recent run of 102 in a restricted allowance and a stakes win with a 98 sp are not going to be good enough here and she will be trying to avoid the wooden spoon. The drop back to 6.5f might help but no where near enough.

ENGLISH GARDEN(IRE) (ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (IRE) x A.P. INDY x WARNING(GB))
A good series of 100+ sp’s for this one , mostly in stakes and allowance company and the balance of her form leaves her a little short of the principles here. If she can find another 5-6 sp points she could challenge for a place but if not she may struggle. The drop down a furlong in trip from her recent runs looks sure to help so I wouldn’t write her off, could sneak a to three.

SWORD OF PGPG (CRUSADER SWORD x SADLER’S WELLS x BEST TURN)
Has won a stakes over 8.5f recently with a 105 sp and it took her all that trip to get up, so why she is being dropped down to 6.5f is beyond me. She will be at the back from the start and does not have the speed to close over this trip. The wimner will be in the winners circle before she finishes. Last place i’m afraid.

LASTRY(AUS) (CANNY LAD (AUS) x BEAU ZAM (NZ) x GRANDCHANT (FR))
Another no hoper with a best recent run of 94 to get second in an allowance. That is nowhere near the level needed to be competative here and she just shouldn’t be here. Only the presence of a router in the previous runner can stop her getting last place.

CONCLUSION- Difficult to nail down a winner here, a couple with big recent runs and a couple of improvers but i’mgoing for DUBLIN LASS.
