No Doom and Gloom for Lay Gloom

Another fantastic race for our 2yo Stakes race at Queensland and the young girls did not disappoint the crowd.  It was all Zoom and no Gloom for Lay Gloom (FR) as the impeccably trained mare by beamerclm took all before her as she ran a significant career high speed rating of 81 to take out the The Hungry for Donutz Stakes at Queensland.  Crossing the line first by a length over her nearest rival she was all speed today and looked the goods for a potentially great career.  With earnings now well over the $120,000 mark trainer beamerclm would have to be happy with her form.  Well run win for sure.

In second place was the favourite in Fair Go (NZ), trained by thematrix who ran a good speed rating of 79 and only a length off the leader.  She is definitely looking very fast and definitely consistent with only her 3rd run of her short career.  Look for big things from this one I think.

Third place was grabbed by Steal a Dance Bed (IRE) but was some 6 1/2 lengths off the winner.  Other rans were Mad Star (KY), It Is As If I Can (NZ) and Orators Corner (IRE) bringing up the rear.

But to be honest the main two runners today were the two up front and they were some considerable distance ahead of the rest of the field.  Well done to all – great race for sure which the crowd definitely enjoyed including the free hand-outs of donuts throughout the day.  See you all back here next week for what promises to be another exciting race.

And yes I know, I failed miserably in the betting.  Ah well, better luck next time!
