Hello and may i wish you a warm welcome from jockeyclub hq,Newmarket,the home of British racing.We are here to take in race 10 on the card,the PINKIE APEX Bonanza stakes,for fillys and mares,3yo + run over 12 furlongs on the dirt.7 go to post and most of them have some sort of chance.Lets take a closer look at runners and riders.
1)FLAIR varsity 212005
4 yo mare by Zabeel out of a grade F mare.26 runs 3 wins 6 seconds and 2 thirds.Nicely bred mare that hasnt really lived up to that breeding.Only once broke 90 and that was over 10 furlongs 5 runs back.To date has never appeared to stay this trip,and I dont think she will start today.Very little to recommend this one.Bookies rate her the 16/1 outsider of the field,and the bookies aint stupid.In my honest opinion no chance.T Wasko is the jockey booking for this one.
2)PIANA PLAYER eddieatc 452121
4 yo scratchbred mare by Cozzene.13 runs 4 wins and 4 seconds for career earnings of $ 62499.First foray into stakes company for this one.Has shown improvement in her last 3 runs.Lto won over this trip in an open allowance,coming from 4 lengths back to hack up by 31/4 lengths recording a 90 speed figure.In the previous 2 runs before that ran over 10 furlongs in restricted allowance class,finishing 2nd and 1st with speed figures of 95 and 96,which suggests 10 furlongs is her ideal trip.Bo Edwards will do the steering on this 5/1 chance.
3)TWO PINE redwood 141032
4 yo scratchbred mare by El Prado.29 runs 8 wins 6 seconds and 5 thirds for career earnings of $287208.Pacey frontrunner,often goes off like a scalded cat and tries to hang on.Has 2 stakes wins to her name.Lto had a healthy 7 length lead but hit the wall entering the home straight and succumbed,finishing 2nd over 13 furlongs beaten 3 3/4 lengths into second in stakes company.Before that led again entering the straight but again could not hold on and finished 3rd in stakes company,beaten 6 1/4 lengths.Most interesting that she put up a 100 speed figure,and that here puts her in with a great chance.Can she hold on today?J Bradley rides this 5/2 jf.
4)COUNTRY OF ORIGIN mortician 133524
5 yo mare by Woodman out of a grade E mare.34 runs 8 wins 4 seconds and 5 thirds for career earnings of $238957.same sort as Two pine,early pacer who will try and hold on,but i think Two Pine has more early pace which puts this one in a difficult spot.Consistantly in the 90`s she has won a valuable allowance over this trip with a 99,albeit back in October last year.Place claims but not for me.3/1 chance will be ridden by J Liddle.
5)LAKEHOUSE hofffiebarn 315123
6 yo mare by Sadlers Wells out of a grade E mare..49 runs 21 wins 7 seconds and 9 thirds for career earnings of $1158982.Remarkable old timer that holds her form well.Back to what looks her best trip.Too many stakes wins to mention and the only thing that has eluded her in a glittering career has been that elusive graded win.Graded placed lto in a 16 furlongs G3,she has also been graded placed in a G1 earlier in her career.sure to get this trip,even at this stage of her career she may be good enough today in what looks a weakish stakes.Top jock A Craig rides this old favourite and she is 5/2 jf.
6)CASINO GOLD mindbolt 345421
5 yo mare by Touch Gold out of a grade F mare.36 runs 11 wins 5 seconds and 5 thirds for career earnings of $221205.Broke her stakes duck lto over this trip when winning a weak event at Norway.Ran right up with the best of her form that day,but will need more again to lift the winners purse here.Tough and game but may be outgunned today.9/1 on the book and T Cooper takes the ride.
7)NIGHT DANCER b4rca 602522
4 yo scratchbred mare by Nightshift.28 runs 4 wins 8 seconds 4 thirds for career earnings of $183892.She has placed second at this trip in 3 of her last 4 runs,the last 2 in stakes company.This unlucky girl always seems to find one too good but is she a banker for the forecast spot yet again?Deserves a stakes win,but im afraid it will not be today.Recent speed figures give her a squeak but i think she may find a couple to hot to handle.Ni Ambrose will be in the irons of this 6/1 chance
