Favorite Wins Liddleski’s Chat Challenge

The last race on the card here in Epsom was the commemorative Simhistory Day Liddleski’s Chat Challenge over a mile on the dirt. Seven horses drew into the race, all raring to go for the chance at victory. The seven horses paraded down the dusty dirt track late Saturday afternoon as they made their way towards the starting gate, all prospects for the win loading easily into the gate as the waiting began.

As the gates crashed open and the seven Thoroughbreds came charging out of the gate it was Country Songs, owned by riverdance, taking the lead on the rail by a head over Halo Me Down, trained by sdmf4. A half length back in third was hills owned Fight For Freedom. Trailing the leader early on by six and one-fourth length was ups trained and owned Chaotic World.

Country Songs increased his lead over Halo Me Down to one-fourth of a length. Three-fourths of a length back in third now was still Fight For Freedom. Florida-bred Grosse Isle, trained by wolverine was running along in fourth, two and three-fourth lengths off pace of Country Songs. Longshot Mediser Ve (FR), trained by 300stars was running in fifth, right in front of pre-race favorite BT’s Fleet, trained by bigted10. Still trailing the field by nine and three-fourth lengths now was Chaotic World

Coming into the stretch it was second-place runner Halo Down who took the lead by a mere head over Country Songs, the two battling for all they were worth now. Fight For Freedom charged on in third with Grosse Isle loosing ground in fourth and dropping quickly. Charging forward in a ground-eating pace was favorite BT’s Fleet, flying now as he quickly approached the two front runners. Mediser Ve (FR) dropped back into sixth with Chaotic World still last.

Now the field came for home, the two front running Halo Me Down and Country Songs all out, quickly closing BT’s Fleet giving it his all, they were down to the wire and it was BT’s Fleet for the win by one-fourth of a length under jockey R. Poulin setting a speed figure of one hundred seven. In second was Halo Me Down with Country Songs third.
