After winning 2 allowance in a row she has finished 2nd in two straight stakes starts. She posted her lifetime best 100 speed rating for the third time in her career in the 2nd of those victories in The Twelve Kelly Handicap Stakes in Kentucky. She has tailed of in her last 3 starts with her speed figures going in the downward direction and she will have to reverse that trend to be considered a factor in this race today. This 52nd divisional ranked mare races for the Black Label stables based at Del/Penn National. After flip flopping between dirt and turf races as a 3 year old she came into her own winning 2 stakes races on the dirt in her 4 year old season. She has come back to take a third black type race this year but is still looking for her first Graded stakes win today. Her lifetime best 109 speed rating was posted early last season while winning The Montes Fires Special Stakes in New Jersey. While she has posted several triple digit speed figures so far this season she does sometimes tend to throw in a cluncker which can be frustrating for the betting public. If she is on her game though, she can be a force to reckon with on any given day. She is another late pack closer of which there are many in this race here today. The rider for today’s race will be Dishman (14.5%).
12)EXPLOSIVE STORM—6/1—pjlracing sends this 6 year old mare out of STORM CAT with a record of 37-17-7-1 and lifetime earnings of $1,168,091. This #1 divisional ranked mare races for Pedro’s Racing Empire which has just recently moved over from the disbanded DUR racing to the EAAA racing Association. She really came into her own last season where she won 5 stakes of which 2 were Grades stakes including last years Dancer Cap making her the defending champion. She has continued her sharp form this year winning 5 more stakes races of which 3 were Grade II events. While her lifetime best 112 speed rating was posted earlier last year she has posted triple digit speed ratings in 7 of her 8 starts so far this season. She is a closer who sits at the back of the pack early and with the many who use that style in this race today racing luck may play a huge part in the outcome of this race. The rider for today’s race will be the meet leader in Lawton (22.8%).
13)KOKO TAYLOR(FR)—11/1—banditkll sends this 3 year old filly out of HIGH YIELD with a record of 20-7-5-3 and lifetime earnings of $438,885. She is out of the mare BARB’S CAPOTE who was 4/57 at the track and this is the only foal on record to date. This 12th divisional ranked filly runs for the unafilliated Tmp stables. This winner of 1 stakes race at 2 has come back to win 4 more stakes race in her sophomore year. Included in that total is The Grade III We Get Signal Stakes in Ontario over 8 furlongs. She posted her lifetime best 112 speed rating last time out in the Grade I Exam Stakes here in New York on a sloppy track and will be facing FLEETWOOD MIA, the other 3 year old filly here again today. In that race this filly finished in 4th behind the 2nd place finish of the other filly. As is the case with the other 3 year old filly, this one will be racing against older for the first time in today’s race. While she has run on the front end several times in her career, mostly in small field races, it appears her style is more of a stalking pressing style of racing. The rider for today’s race will be Coomer (10.4%).
14)AGAIN WITHTHE GOLD—6/1—barn25dog sends this 5 year old mare out of AWESOME AGAIN with a record of 24-12-4-3 and lifetime earnings of 572,527. This 27th divisional ranked mare runs for the NWRC division of the famous Barndog Farms with the red-black-white colored silks with everybodys favorite pooch pictured on the front. This 5 time stakes winner did not start her career until last year in her 4 year old season. She has posted her lifetime best 109 speed rating 3 times in her career with the last time being last time out in The Smackdown III residency competition where she captured the 7 furlong dirt sprint for older fillies and mares. With the lack of speed in this race today it would be expected that she will fly out to the lead from the outside post even though she has shown versatiltiy in her running style. If she can get away with some easy fractions it may be tough for the huge group of closers to catch her in the end run. The rider for today’s race will be Hoskins (10.9%).
A great group of fillies and mares in today’s feature and while if #14 AGAIN WITHTHE GOLD gets away with easy fraction she may be the one to beat but don’t forget the defending champ in #12 EXPLOSIVE STORM who has proven she can win here as she did in last years event.
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RACING
