Volotile Seattle Dirt Route

Volotile Seattle Dirt Route

We head south of the border to Mexico (MX) as a group of nine 3 year olds go for a $100,000 purse in this mile and five sixteenth dirt route stakes, which is restricted to 3 year olds.  Only three horses in the race has found a prior stakes win in his career while the remainder of the field looks to put their first feather in their cap in this nine horse field.  So let us take a look at this fine group of contenders heading into the Volotile Seattle Dirt Route which runs on Friday, April 27, 2018 on a fast dirt track at post time.  Let us take a look at this field of 3 year olds.

Horse/Odds                                                       Owner                                  Jockey

1.  ZANINESS (6/1)                                           mightyforego9                  M Olson

He is coming off three nice 9 and 9.5 furlong wins in MX in Allowance races.  Should be a track favorite for this race if he can handle the added distance stepping up to 10.5 furlongs in this race as he definitely knows this track racing against local company.  Likes to run just off the pace and should like racing out of the first gate.

2.  CRACKERJACK RIDE (9/5)                        tfon21                                   A Jolly

Has struggled finding the winners circle since his stakes win back on 12/24/2017.  He did place 2nd in the Grade 1, Vermont Is 4 Lovers at 9f just behind Bluegrass Derby contender Through The Woods.  But his last two outings have been lack luster.  He is going a distance he has never traveled before, but it may do him well if he can again find his deep closing style.  I look for him to step up his game here in Mexico.

3.  FLOWERSINYRHAIR LV (10/1)               safbiz                                    J Selden

Has been racing on the European circuit mainly and is coming off a narrow loss in his last Allowance race over in SAF but failed to get to the wire first by ¾ length.  Has shown some improvement with speed with added distance since his last Allowance win back on 08/04/2017.  Taking a big jump in distance today and will have to see if he has the legs to handle it.

4.  RIDING RAILS (13/1)                                  super23                                M Buck

Had a stakes win in the Western Groom Dirt Stayer back on 01/01/2018 at 11.5f, but comes off two disappointing stakes runs in his last two outings.  He has gone the distance before which benefits him here, but he will need to dig into the tank and find some extra speed against this crowd.

5.  BRADY IS THE GOAT (22/1)                    lgbost5a                               A Weldon

Has had some struggles since breaking his maiden back on 06/30/2017.  Has failed to find his way to the winners circle in an Allowance race, until that is in his last outing on 04/01/2018 in a “Hot Race”.  He is coming off a very short layoff which may also hurt him against this crowd.

6.  NOBLE GALAHAD (12/1)                          bluefox                                                V Jennings

Has been racing mainly in the Europe and Australian circuit on both dirt and turf.  Today he comes to Mexico for this fiesta.   Back in February he had a nice 2nd place finish in PAR but still came up two lengths short behind the leader at the wire.  He has never gone the distance of 10.5f but if he fires he might upset the party.

7. MALIBU’S SONG (9/1)                               dkstables21                        F Oxon

Tried to step it up in his last outing to a stakes run in the Magic Merlin Dirt Challenge on 02/16/2018, but he failed to fire at 8.5 furlongs against his competition.  He did have a nice NW2L Allowance win on 12/23/2018 at the same distance.  If he fires he could be a contender here, but he will have overcome the distance and have to fire again like he did back in December.

8.  TALENTED MR. CADET (7/2)                   cadet                                     Ma Scott

Another one of our stakes winners in this field of nine.  Seems to like to run just off the pace stalking the leaders in his best runs.  His stakes win came in The ESR Test at 9 furlongs.  He followed that up with a 9.5 furlong run in the Tom E Nearctic in which he placed 5th some four lengths back but with a nice little jump in speed.  I look to see him compete at the wire as the second choice in the morning line.

9.   MR. BERNIE TED (9/2)                              allout2                                  G Ramirez

Maybe we should call him Mr. Consistent…well that is what he is when it comes to speed in his last three outings.  He broke his maiden and then won an Allowance race by a head in back to back efforts.  He then headed for some stakes runs.  He did find a 3rd place finish in his first stakes effort in the Intergalactic which has been his best result in this three stakes efforts.  I look for this horse to put up another good effort here as well.  We will see if he can find some purse money at this distance.

Good luck to all horses and owners.  Have a great day of racing and most importantly…Have Fun!

Skippy’s Tip Sheet Picks

1.  CRACKERJACK RIDE:  Looks ready here and has performed well against better.

2.  TALENTED MR. CADET: Should be there at the wire to find some purse money.

3.  MR. BERNIE TED:  Consistent stakes efforts his last three outings should put him close at the wire.

TARTON’S LONG SHOT

#4 RIDING RAILS:  Struggled due to inconsistency in his efforts.  If he fires he could challenge.
