Piccolo an underestimated Sim-Sire
In the 2007 breeding season I continue in my KISBER Stables with the breeding of bargain 2 year olds. But around 10 to 15 percent of my breedings are horses which cost between 100 and 200 BP.
Last year I bred six times with Piccolo but got only one winner. This year I bred to date 1 horse: CIRCUS PLUME (Piccolo x Rousillon x Upper Nile). She made her debut at 5.5 f Turf in a MSW 16100 and won with a SP of 69. Her second Start came in a Stakes race where she was beaten in second. This week she started in Minnesota in a little Stakes race and won easy with something in hand. She looked crying for 6f. All three races were on turf.
Circus Plume is the first Stakes winner for her father. He had in five years (1999 to 2007) 17 runners with 6 winners. These 6 winners won 12 races in 200 Starts. With only 17 starters, it looked good to have a Stakes winner. In real life, Piccolo was a Group I and Group II winning Sprinter who earned more than 400,000 pound in 3 seasons to race. His best progeny to date is his daughter LA CUCARACHA. She won also Group I and II sprints. I hope he can have more chances now to show his class as a sire, after showing he can produce winners with a touch of class.
