Vermont BB Juvenile Filly
Grade II
Five and one half furlongs
Fast Dirt
$250,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old

Welcome to the second of today’s graded races, again for the two year olds but this time the ladies. A full field of fourteen, with a lively mix of fancies and outsiders. Lets take a look at the runners-

TOO MUCH SPEED(KY) (VICTORY GALLOP x CRYPTOCLEARANCE x NORTHERN DANCER) danno3

Won her only race to date but only with a 53 sp which normally is way below requirements for this race, however that run was on slow ground and she can reasonably expect to improve by some margin here. Even though, a top five looks the best she could do.

THE WIGGLE WAGGLER(KY) (GOOD REWARD x SINGSPIEL(IRE) x EASY GOER) brookline

Already won two from two but the last run was ordinary at best. However it was a drop in trip and on good ground, so it can probably be ignored. Any improvement on her first run 73 would put her right in the picture and she must be a threat for a top three place. Some nice influences in the pedigree and she should develop into a good graded runner.

LARF DA HOUSEDOWN(KY) (LIMEHOUSE x DISTORTED HUMOR x STORM CAT) rharfbeam

A pretty impresive maiden win with a 76 first time out and promises to improve on that with the experience and hike in trip. A lot of 9f influences with a bit of speed in the pedigree, she obviously been bred with a classic in mind and if she wins here that might be on the cards. Will only have to run the sameagain to be involved and decent improvement could easily see a win.

NAVARINO(KY) (APTITUDE x FORTY NINER x RAISE A NATIVE) peoria

Won her only start with a goos 74sp and won cosily at that, leading from start to finish. Nice speed pedigree and clearly already stays this trip, so with some improvement likely from her first run, promises to be right in the thick of things today. Will find it harder to lead all the way but expect a top three finish at least.

EXCELLANCE CLONE(FR) (HIGHEST HONOR(FR) x SHAREEF DANCER x PRETENSE) hwhisper

Has won her only start but with a mere 55 sp and would have to improve almost thirty sp points to get in the mix. That’s just not on and she won’t be competative today. However she has a pretty turfy pedigree and musty be worth a try on the green stuff.

ONE GROOMIN T(KY) (GONE WEST x BLUSHING GROOM(FR) x CREME DELA CREME) tsyndicate

Another turfy pedigree but also lots of class in there and it showed in her second run. However she can’t improve that much again and a 70 sp will not make the top five here. Looks as though she may struggle here and I can’t see a top five today.

MIGHT BE LAST(IRE) (LEPORELLO x SEQUOIA SLEW x KRIS S.) lacorrone

Looks as though we have one who could live up to her name. It’s always worrying when sp’s decline with each run and that what she has done. Her latest 65 will see her a mile behind and I can’t see anything else in store today.

DANCE AWAY RENEE(KY) (CAME HOME x BROAD BRUSH x NORTHERN DANCER) hornedfrog

Two wins from two and two sp’s in the 70’s but again it’s a worry that the sp fell from first to second run. A 74 or 76 won’t get in the money here and she’ll have to pick up some 8-10 sp points to win. As i’ve said before that’s a big ask in a Graded race and I can’t see it.

JENNAH’S SISTER(KY) (SEEKING THE GOLD x A.P. INDY x FORMIDABLE) jennahs

The 9/1 on the morning line looks too short as I can’t see where the 20 point improvement thatmay be needed will come from. She’s ran the same sp both times up and another 65 will see hwer bringing up the rear. Will struggle.

SECRET LIASON(NZ) (SCAREDEE CAT x BLACK TIE AFFAIR(IRE) x CAPE CROSS (IRE)) ferrari

Won on her second time up but her sp dropped from her first race and that second was over todays trip. A 67 sp won’t cut it and she looks as though she could be better served by a return to the minimum trip. She may lead over the first couple of furlongs but I can’t see her lasting out and she’ll be in midfield at best.

BAND LION(LA) (LION TAMER x SEEKING THE GOLD x DIXIELAND BAND) graywolf20

Another who won second time out but who ran a slower sp second time up. That’s always a negative for me and a high sixties sp will be at the rear not the front. Can’t see the 20 point hike in sp’s coming so nearer last than first for me.

REWARD NINER(KY) (GOOD REWARD x FORTY NINER x DANZIG) lawyerron

Another Good Reward daughter with one win from three but each sp was in the 70’s but all three runs were on turf. Should be effective on dirt and there’s a lot of blue blood in that pedigree. Hard to assess but with a little more improvement she should take home some money- if she handles the surface.

BEAGLE TO BEAGLE(KY) (GONE WEST x CAPOTE x KEY TO THE MINT) jockster1

Has won one from three but the last race was a stinker and a 60 sp will see her beaten 20 lengths or more. Will have to grow another leg and get a hold of a jet pack to win this.

SUICIDEPLAYDATE(ENG) (CACIQUE (IRE) x FUSAICHI PEGASUS x NORTHERN DANCER) danmancan

Two from two and already a graded winner, and that last sp can be taken with a pinch of salt as it was on slow ground following some rain. Shouls stay the trip based on her first run a she’s another who will be right in the thick of things with a small increase in sp. Must rate a big danger to all.

CONCLUSION- A nightmare to call but graded wins must count and therefore SUICIDEPLAYDATE must get the vote, followed by NAVARINO and LARF DA HOUSEDOWN.
