A quick flight over the pond and we find ourselves at Kansas. We are here to take in the feature race of the meeting, The ALYLUV TRICK Special stakes 7.5 furlongs dirt. It is race 10 on the card and 12 nice 3yo Mares vie for the lions share of the $45000 purse. In stall one we have the taleofcat9 represenative SWAMPBOOTS (STORM BOOT x A.P. INDY x I.M. PHIL). She brings 6 runs to the table with 3 wins and a third. She is already a stakes winner over this same trip, recording 93 when winning -The DOMITILA(IRE) Special at Idaho 3 runs back. Folowed that by running a 92 when 3rd in an 8f stakes at the same track. You can forget all about her last run as she tried turf for the first time over possibly what would seem long enough for her. Half sister to another stakes winner she is out of a grade C mare. S Moskowitz takes the ride at 9/1. The Covetol runner RUDERE (MEDAGLIA D’ORO x SILVER GHOST x UNBRIDLED’S SONG) jumps out of 2. This deep closer is also a stakes winning mare, having recorded victory at Dubai 3 runs back when winning the 7.5 furlongs St-The ROYANJI Memorial, running a 94. Dissapointed next time out in a 7 furlongs Grade 2 and then failed to stay in a stakes over 9 furlongs. Back to what would seem to be her best trip today and that makes her worthy of consideration. L Buchholtz is the man on board and is a 6/1 JF. YAMAZAKURA (MINESHAFT x DEPUTY MINISTER x MR. PROSPECTOR) is next in stall 3. Out of a grade F mare, this beautifully bred filly aims to emulate her decent half brother by becoming a stakes winner. A speedy sort, trainer lopickles will be looking to better his effort of 3rd last time out in a stakes over this trip at Idaho. She has won 3 of her 9 races with 1 second and 2 thirds, winning $136000 in the process. A Ellison is in the irons and Yamazakura is a 7/1 chance. In 4 is the crandyiii trained GREY ICE (JOHANNESBURG x GREY DAWN II x ICECAPADE). Without doubt this one has the pick of the form in this race when she scooted up in the grade 2 G2-Yanta Snez Stakes over 7 furlongs at North Calafornia back in Janruary. Perhaps her busy shedule began to catch up with her for she hasn`t really perfomed in 4 subsequent outings, although she has taken in a grade 1 and two grade 3`s (Possible excuses for 2 of these poor runs. She didnt stay in one and perhaps didn`t act on the rain in another). She has had 5 weeks this time and back to her best she would sit a couple of lengths off the lead before quickening. Top jock B Coates is on board this 6/1 JF PERFECT POINT (PERFECT CIRCLE x POINT GIVEN x MR. PROSPECTOR) representing victoryrun is in stall 5. This one has been in the money in 75% of his career runs with 3 wins 2 seconds and a third to show from 8 runs. Although the overall speed figures suggest this may not be the one,it must be remembered that young horses with this little racing are always candidates for improvement. B Clark gets the leg up and she is an 11/1 chance. Out of 6 we have GO OUT DANCING (TAPIT x STORM CAT x SEEKING THE GOLD). This one sparked into life last time running her best race to date out over this trip, winning a $46000 allowance to earn his chance in a higher level. Trainer kyclocker2 will be hoping this frontrunning type can keep up her recent improvement to take a hand in this harder race. O Cheeseman is an intersting jockey booking on this 9/1 shot. Next in 7 is WHEELS OF STEEL (CRYPTOCLEARANCE x EL GRAN SENOR x RIVERMAN). This bonny scratch bred has been running well of late over this trip. 3 runs back she ran a 94 over this trip when finishing 2nd in an $26000 allowance and last time out over the same trip, she finished 2nd with a 93 in a stakes. These pieces of form puts her in with a shout here and trainer worldwide is sure to have her in tip top condition. W Collins will do the steering on this 7/1 shot. In stall 8 is UPPER DECK (GRAND SLAM x AWESOME AGAIN x RAISE A NATIVE) who is out of a grade F mare. She has been in the money in 8 of her 14 races winning just over $100000 for trainer simond4. Recorded her fastest speed figures 3 runs back when running a 91 in a $26000 nw4l, leading from pillar to post. Lto recorded a 90 when 4th in a stakes over this trip. The inexperienced K L Baker is the jock on top of this 7/1 chance. In 9 we have D LION SLEEPS G (LION HEARTED x WOODMAN x THEATRICAL(IRE)) going for the jgjg stable. 2nd lto in a 6 furlong stakes, the speed figure of 82 leaves this daughter of a grade F mare with an uphill looking task. She has won a stakes but that was over 5.5 furlongs and this trip may be as long as she wants to go. Would look to have a better chance if the rain had come. B Mack takes the ride at 13/1. FANTASTIC DEPUTY ( FANTASTICAT x DEPUTY MINISTER x DANCING BRAVE), out of 10 is another stakes winning mare in the field. 2 runs back she won St-The EL DINGA(IRE) Challenge over this same trip, settling 1 1/4 lengths off the leader in 2nd before running on and winning by 1 1/2 lengths. It didnt go so well in a 7 furlongs grade 2 lto, but today she is eased in class a little which may help her chances. Trainer animekid has jockey BK Johnson booked for this 9/1 chance. From the penultamate stall 11 we have the most inexperienced horse in the field. SJ’S MRS SPOOKY (SILVER GHOST x MILL REEF x RIVERMAN) has only 5 runs to her name, with 2 wins a second and a third. Stakes placed twice her best run came over 7 furlongs in a small allowance when she ran an 89. Been tried over longer since then, but I think this drop back down in trip will be ideal. Trainer Popsntips will obviously be hoping for improved form, and its hard to dismiss her totally out of hand. G Phillips is the man booked to ride this 8/1 chance. And finally, from 12 we have THE THRILL IS GONE (STRIKE THE GOLD x FERDINAND x DEPUTY MINISTER). Out of a grade F mare this one has been in the money 11 of her 15 races winning $115000. She is multiple stakes placed but I must question her recent form and whether she will get this trip. Goes for the banditkllr stable, she gets the able assistance of jockey R Feese and is a 13/1 shot. Pogo Predicts Another difficult race to call, the life of a tipster is not an easy one. At her best GREY DAWN would take this,but after dissapointing is she back to her best? I must admit I do like the trip for SJ’S MRS SPOOKY and with so few runs under her belt improvement can be expected and another returning to what looks more like her trip is RUDERE, whilst WHEELS OF STEEL looks a must for the shortlist after her recent efforts.
