1 | ROYAL | 5/1 | 5yo out of an “F” rated mare that has produced some excellent progeny. Last time out the horse was well beyond the limits of his distance capability and ran a dud. Now back to familiar distance and drawing the inside post should bring much better results. Running style is versatile, but jock is so-so. Jockey instructions should help to negate. We’re looking for a big improvement here.
2 | 6/1 |
First progeny of a “D” rated mare that loved the grass. This 4yo takes to dirt but has a win on the green stuff also. Colt will need a clean break and forward move to be effective here. Has been weakening lately and cannot afford a speed duel. Last win was some time ago as colt wired the field. The chances are iffy as to whether that will apply here, as there is speed in this event. Jock Hartz has been on the road lately selling his bird food, and will have to be focused to get the job done.
3 | DECATHLETE TED | 10/1 |
Scratch bred by Storm Cat, this 4yo has deteriorated in his last four outs. Even his best speed may not be enough here. The amazing thing is, the trainer hasn’t tried turf yet. His blood has much green to it and the colt should be given at least 2-3 tries on grass at various distances. Unless there is much improvement here, we have to feel that that is the next option for such royal blood.
4 | VAN DIEMEN’S LAND(NZ) | 17/1 |
Scratch bred 6yo running in his 47th race. He has 20 wins in his career, but the money in pocket tells all. A very honest claimer/allowance type that probably will be wanting to get back to the barn as soon as possible.
5 | HOLLOW | 5/1 |
6yo scratch bred by Beat Hollow going into his 45th race and still performing well. Coming off a nice allowance victory at ten furlongs were he wired the field. Best distance in his heyday was at nine panels, so we can’t expect him to be a real threat in this. He may affect the outcome of this however. Likes the front end and should be in the mix for six furlongs.
6 | IZZO’S REVENGE | 20/1 |
Long shot in the field and rightly so. A nice allowance type that has won at varied distances. A nice 2nd in a marathon last out proves versatility. An easier race could probably have been found.
7 | AFFAIR OFTHE TIGER( | 4/1 |
5yo out of an “H” rated mare. One of the true contenders in this event. Hot jock Silver has a very sharp horse underneath him here. Love this distance as record shows. Stalker/pace type that fits to a tee in this. 10 wins and 10 places out of 36 tries shows class and effectiveness. Should certainly be there at the finish.
8 | AWEGUSTUS | 6/1 |
Only progeny of a “B” rated millionaire mare. (please send her to me if you’re not going to use herJ). This lightly raced 4yo is busting at the seams to race more. Overlay for sure. Will probably be 5-6 off the pace with a bust out move heading for home. Jock has been faithfully attending all his AA meetings and is good form at present. Colt has a very bright future raced a bit before age creeps in. He could be one of the “big” guns.
9 | FASLIYEV QUEST( | 9/2 |
Out of an “F” rated turf sprinting mare…this deep closing 7yo loves the brown stuff. He has been idle for some time now after a very nice 10f win in February. Some of his best SP’s and victories have come at this distance. The time off is a concern in this because of his lack of effort in the early goings. Ironside will give him an honest ride, but will the mount be up to the task come Saturday? May need this.
10 | GENOCIDE JUNKIES | 7/1 |
Scratch bred by Louis Quatorze. 4yo colt that fits to a tee in this. Has had some limited success in graded but is a proven listed stakes type. Colt runs best when laying 4-5 back and the race sets well for him. Last race at the distance was in ’06, but he won with authority. Outclassed in last try, he should relish this field and be a threat to take all. Good odds and class jock add to flavor.
Last event before Summer break for BTB. Let’s see if we can make some $$. Exacta box…7,10 w 1,2,7,9,10
