Welcome to the Land of The Rising Sun for todays feature, the Kinsho Kho Classic over 10f on the turf course. Only a field of seven but with all seven covered by 2.5 points on the morning line it looks set to be a close run affair. Lets take a look-
SPECIAL KAYF(GB) (KAYF TARA (GB) x KRIS(GB) x THE MINSTREL) lgbost
Lots of nice runs in stakes and allowances and regulasrly beats the sp barrier but he’s never won at further than 8.5f and indeed never looked good beyond that trip, and he’s never run in a graded race. This will be a tough race and for me it’s too much for him. Wil struggle to get the trip.
ALE N’ SKITTLES (JADE HUNTER x THEATRICAL(IRE) x CAVEAT) bigtime
Solid graded race runner at around this trip, including recent seconds in a Grade I and a Grade III anda stakes win with a 102 sp. Clearly gets the trip and experienced at this level, he must be in awith a shout of some money at least. Expect a 102-104 sp.
SIMULATION KING(IRE) (DESERT KING (IRE) x WITH APPROVAL x ALLEGED) legends2
Very interesting runner here, especially as he’s so lightly raced. Has won six from eight and was second on the other two runs. This is his first try at this level but his latest stakes win over this trip with a 106 sp suggests he’s ready for it. Clearly still has improvement left and I would expect him to run around a 108-110 sp today. If he does he will take some stopping and you may just be looking at the next sim superstar. Remember the name and remember where you heard it first. Monster run expected.
TOP JIMMY (PEINTRE CELEBRE (IRE) x VICE REGENT x SHIRLEY HEIGHTS(GB)) sdmf2
Has a stakes and an allowance win at this trip in his las two races with sp’s of 99 and 78 ? Most os his sp’s in the last year or so have been mid 90’s but he still throws in the 100+. He hasn’t won at this level since March last year and the suggestion is that he may now be on the downgrade. Should still be a solid runner though and has a chance of earning some money.
DEVIL’S KING(IRE) (REFUSE TO BEND (IRE) x COZZENE x KINGMAMBO) stevesutto
Turned out quite quickly after his recent Grade I fifth in the Keg og Guiness, and most of his better recent runs have come at 9f. Seems to struggle at this trip in rthis grade, although he does have a recent allowance win with a 102 sp. Again though another solid runner who should be fighting for a money spot but I can’t see a win today, as he would have to improve on his recent runs and that’s asking a lot.
STUNNING BLOW(IRE) (THEATRICAL(IRE) x BLUSHING GROOM(FR) x NIJINSKY II) latte
Has won five from fourteen and the pedigree is all stamina- will this trip be long enough? The way he has finished over 11f and 13f recently suggests to me that 12f will be his ideal trip and that’s backed up by the breeding. His best recent sp is only 103 though and he would have to improve over a trip that’s not ideal. That’s asking a lot and he looks another who should be fighting for those third, fourth and fifth places.
GOOD TO BE KING (SMARTY JONES x A.P. INDY x SADLER’S WELLS) super21
Another very interesting runner who has been tried at trips between 9f and 16f in graded races recentlty, with his best runs being over 9-10f. This is his trip then and he’s certainly capable of a 105-107 sp but he does appear to be inconsistant. That may have been just down to the trip changes and for me he the biggest danger to Simulation King.
CONCLUSION- A lot of runners who appear to be close in talent but for me two stand out. GOOD TO BE KING should put up a bold show but for me he’ll be taking secvond spot from the monster SIMULATION KING who looks a real star in the making.
