Turf Angel a big favorite in the Grade III I Said Be Quiet

This week’s feature in Florida is the Grade III I Said Be Quiet Stakes, which will be run at seven furlongs and is for 3 year old fillies and mares over a fast main course. A short field of six has gathered for this year’s rendition, and there is a heavy betting favorite to deal with here, and five challengers ready to spoil Turf Angel’s party. Let’s take a closer look at them:

  1. NRMA PLEASE (KY) – 3 year old filly by Jump Start – She should be part of the initial fray for this race, and coming from a mile race, maybe jockey Y. Fairington and trainer pogdig1 will try to delineate a strategy to sit from just off the pace, trying to take advantage of the route form she has shown. But, in all fairness, we have to say that she will need to improve her best SF to have a chance in this race. Her two wins so far have been in conditioned allowance races, so you can see how much she will have to step up to at least fight for the minor awards in this event.
  2. ROLLEDUP (PA) – 3 year old filly by Song of the Sword – She is the speed of the speed in here, and her best chance is to grab an easy lead and try to take them wire to wire. She is coming from a route race, which should set hr up nicely for this one, and trainer prufrockja gave her short breezed just for maintaining her condition, now in a distance much better for her. This filly is a three time stakes winner already, so you see she is no slouch at all, and the circumstances of the race help her tremendously.
  3. MOREOVER (KY) – 3 year old filly by More than Ready – Very versatile filly, who can win both sprinting and routing. She needs for things to set up nicely, namely an honest pace up front, and if the jockeys fear that Rolledup could be alone in the lead, this can happen. Her trainer hollyyih is hoping for this scenario to develop for her filly stands a good chance to dominate in the final strides. She keeps on working daylights during the mornings, and she is a two time stakes winner and graded placed already.
  4. RUBY BELLE (AUS) – 3 year old filly by Bel Esprit (AUS) – This filly has been running in stakes races over the last three months. However, in each and every one of them, she has been soundly beaten, and still has to prove she belongs in this kind of competition. Almost of all her races have been at a mile or beyond, so trainer fleet 1 rolls the dice here and shortens her up to a distances which can be more suited for her, due to her pedigree. She will come from way off the pace, but her improvement will have to be dramatic to even compete for the lesser awards her.
  5. ROCK OF THE NIGHT (AUS) – 3 year old filly by Fastnet Rock (AUS) – She is lightly raced, with only six races lifetime. And, better than that, she has been showing steady improvement, especially in her last two efforts. Both of them, however, have been against conditioned allowance company, and she is climbing up the ladder to the graded ranks. Her trainer ctj5 is confident that his filly will keep her improving ways and be on the board when all is said and done. She keeps working great and will do her running from just off the leaders.
  6. TURF ANGEL (KY) – 3 year old filly by Rahy – There is no doubt she is by far the class of this field. A multiple stakes and Graded winner already, looks like she should have a pretty easy time with this field, if she repeats her last effort, which was a solid win in the Grade II Pebbles Flinstone in Nebraska. She will sit in the garden spot, waiting for the leaders to weaken to then pick up the pieces and go on to win. Trainer dokki3 didn’t know this race will come up this soft for her filly, but anyway he has trained her like as she was going to the Kentucky Oaks, so her form is in no doubt whatsoever. Should be the winner, and I will not pick against her here.

My Picks: Turf Angel, Rolledup, Rock of the Night
