The Gold Mine You Happen To Be Standing On
The Gold Mine You Happen To Be Standing On.
In the world of horses and horseracing the first thing a veteran will tell you is that nothing is sure. Nothing except that one thing that no decent owner, trainer, or breeder could exist with out
Information
The information we receive is what we use to decide what to buy, how to train, and who to breed. It is what we use to win and what we gain every time we don’t. Other than our horses, information is what powers this sport, as well as many others. We crave it and thrive on it with the almost veracious belief that there is no such thing as too much. It is that very quest for information that has led me here to the Black Type Bugler headquarters, but it is not my final destination.
The Bugler is a vast wealth of knowledge, which is made apparent the very first day we walk into the Forum. The veterans and elders, who seem to never cease in their own quest to educate the first unknowing new stable to ask a question, tell us to read, read, read. Read the instructions! Read the FAQs! Read the Bugler! Read Something!! So we read, but there is one thing they do not mention. It is something we all know about and something many of us use, but not the first thing that comes to the “newbie’s” mind.
The Forum
The Forum is a vast connection of breeding tips, claiming tips, racing tips, training tips, info on sires, dam sires, races, and two dozen different opinions on when to start your two year olds. It is a literal gold mind of knowledge, information, and recorded past experiences of the Sims top owners. It can almost be guaranteed that if you have a question, some one has already asked it, and if you have a problem, someone has already experienced it. The next time you feel like learning something new about the sim, click on an older page of the Forum. I was sifting through the pages last week and found two lists of some of France’s top sires, which included good sires I never heard of or never considered. That is just one example of the things I’ve learned from the Forum, but the most valuable thing I learned was that the Forum is not just for asking questions, it is for finding answers.
The Black Type Bugler, the Instructions, asking any and all questions are still vital to the over all health and success of every stable, new or old, but the Forum is packed with supplementary knowledge that can not be ignored. There are questions to be answers, stories to be told, knowledge to be gained, and you happen to be standing on it. So the next time you have a question… read.
