FANG GII

Race ID: 2594.6916

Grade II
Six and one half furlongs
Fast Dirt
$250,000
All horses, 3 years old

1 17320 GO JENNAH GO Ladyssecre S BrienO’ 23/1 DEPUTY MINISTER x GONE WEST x STORM OF ANGELSA nicely put together 3yo brown colt, with a very strong mind of his own, I am told be a source close the horse,“ GO JENNAH GO can run, as you all can see. He prefers sprints since he did so well over 7f posting 102 sp; the general consence was to run him back at the same distance. However, he had different ideas. At 23/1 he has nearly the highest odds, but you never know…”

2 93219 HATTORI HANZO capeside L Ramsey 8/1 FUSAICHI PEGESUS x STORM CAT x SEATTLE SLEW“ We are all very proud of our Fu Peg colt, as you cam see in his PP .He posts brilliant SPs over a wide range of distances. We are confident of winning our second GII this weekend. HATTORI HANZA is known to be the joker back at the yard. He’s always checking your pockets over making off with your hat, when race day arrives he all business.” As stated on a press release.

3 88388 WHITENER astin Z Kidder 14/1 DEPUTY MINISTER x SEEKING THE GOLD x A.P.INDY The wonder filly from the Astin racing empire, she is rated as the number two dirt filly. Unbeaten in 8 races, she’s slowly making her way back to the winner’senclosure. WHITENER really didn’t like going offtrack a couple races back. So being back on fast dirt again should make her happy and having won once against the boys, she wants to make this number 2.

4 94654 GOLD SACRIFICE Whirlaway N Hilton 15/1 SEEKING THE GOLD x RAHY x SEATTLE SLEW“ Gold SACRIFICE is the star back home,“ so I told by a spokesperson,“ He has recovered well from that disastrous race at the start of the season He is on top form, one he gets going you won’t see the others for dust. Our colt will do his best. What more can you ask for…”

5 49030 GOLDEN BANANA Cr J Harty 14/1 SEEKING THE GOLD x STORM CAT x I AM THE GAME Ranked the 16-dirt colt, he is on a winning streak and loving it. All tough struggling LTO he did win just by a whisker. Well if he sticks to sprints that number one position is looking good. On a request for an interview the connections denied, mumbling something about being to busy…

6 43306 UCIO BELLO Elbongy R Jacobson 51/1 GONE WEST x AFFLEET x BALDSKI A not so solid allowance runner trying to break into Stakes company A brave move by Elbongy. This seems to be a small racing stable with only one runner. A good little horse with a big heart just trying to get the job done. When asked to comment the owner was unavailable.

7 37133 WILE E. CAPOTE citation B Bauder 17/1 CAPOTE x CRAFT PROSPECTOR x SUMMER SQUALL The second filly in this field Unbeaten as a 2yo, she started this season off with a win. Since starting her highflying career she has not be off the board yet. A brilliant and fast mover she posted a whopping 103 sp over 7f.No Wonder she is ranked as the number one dirt filly. In addition, she s ready to show her heels to the boys. So watch out!

8 90017 RECANT flaw E Sieber 17/1

REPENT x GONE WEST x STAGE DOOR JOHNNY RECANT came 3rd in the SPECIAL BID stakes GIII earlier this year, just losing out by a length. A Stakes veteran, Recant, took some time out from his stakes secudle, to win a couple of allowances only to burst back onto the stakes scene with a 104 sp and a second place. His connections are hoping that this outing is a return to form and the winner’s enclosure.

9 63672 DAY APPROVAL Phonetrick C Huey 10/1

DAYJUR x WITH APPROVAL x NEARATIC Day approval started wit a win FTO and then breezing to an easy win in an allowance race. He responded well to being stretched out running a 103 sp over 8f.since then his career has become quite chequered. After filling out at the right places and fining his feet, he just got to keep his head on the job and his connection will be laughing again.

10 93046 EL PRADO’S APPEAL (IRE) Nastybu F Feller 19/1 EL PRADO x SMILE x VALID APPEALAnother fast one. As commented by a source close to the connection have told me“ we are very confident of our chances in his graded stakes debut. He is still smarting from being beaten by a ¾ length LTO sometimes a 106sp just isn’t good enough. APPEAL is at the beginning of his racing career and we are, looking forward to more pictures being taken in the winner’s circle…”

11 89466 PROVEN AWESOME Wer4fun F Atwater 11/1
AWESOME AGAIN x AFFIRMED x FORTY NINER Awesome is just Awesome, 9 back to back win is just simply PROVEN AWESOME. This is his first race in graded company. With him only cracking the triple barrier only twice so far, it could turn out that this race is to fast for him. A brown 3o colt by AWESOME AGAIN he is ranked 5th in the sire stats of his crop. All in all a colt to be proud of.

12 6040 MEADOWGOLD Skunkieluv D Brownridge 12/1

TOUCH GOLD x EL GRAN SENOR x MEADOWLAKE As told to the reporter:” My colt has not been as brilliant at 3 as he was at 2. Apparently he is a “victim” of early maturation. Not that I am complaining because he’s still a great horse and still finishing well. He does seem to choke in graded races that he by rights should excel at. He’s finished well twice – a show in a G2 and a place in a G3 – but he’s also bombed. He’s definitely had his share of bounces this year. Sure my horse has a lot of experience but that’s no guarantee here. On the flip side, he’s due a big win but I’ll be happy if he finishes in the top 3.” In addition, with that comment what more can I say then GOOD LUCK WINTER.

13 38559 SMOKENTATE Koolaid B Jonas 13/1 ORIENTATE x SMOKE GLACKEN x END SWEEP SMOKENTATE started his 3yo season really smoking…A winning streak of 4 wins back to back and jumping in SPs from 79 to 100,that colt is hot. A couple graded stakes how ever brought this highflyer back to earth with a bang. He has since then recovered and found his form again by wining with a triple figure.

14 95638 STORMFANG Stormborn A Rolling 12/1 MORE THAN READY x STORM CAT x SEEKING THE GOLD “Stormfang is the laziest colt in my operation…but he has also the fastest acceleration and one-furlong burst in my operation. He’s been stabled here at BC for the last four weeks, and he’ll have the top jock riding, but the rest is up to the horse. If he fires, you’ll know it because there will be a blur running across the screen in the final furlong!” Comments to STORMFANG as told to me by owner trainer Storm born

15 90642 GRAND THIEVERY Lopo87 K White 19/1 MACHIVELLIAN x DEPUTY MINISTER x NUREVEY Another of the rising stars out of the up and coming GR.SIMSTER residency. After having some problems adjusting to being a 3yo he sure has found his way on the track and is now rearing to go. Nice win LTO wire-to-wire triple SPs money and bps in the bank. What more could you want

16 8189 FLASH THE CASH Londoner C Bortz 16/1 CAT THIEF x NASHUA x DAMASCUS “Flashy as he is know in the yard,“ a spokesperson said,“ is a really champ and a gentleman. Those 6 weeks off after his GIII appearance really did him a world of good. What he doesn’t seem to like anymore is been stretched out. ALL his wins this season have been over 6,5 f so maybe he’s trying to tell us something. Well after the race we will know more.

17 88659 SHAFTED AGAIN Eaglebarns D Bauder 18/1 MINESHAFT x DANZIG x FORTY NINERFresh from winning a $150’000 claim race this 3yo son of MINESHAFT has fared well in allowance company, he seems a bit overwhelmed by stakes runners. He posted a lifetime best in winning LTO .Can he do it again this time… SPs maybe; win probably not

18 89911 MIKE’S CATCH (IRE) Calle3 Hi Jackson 21/1 CATHER IN THE RYE x HENNESSY x MR. PROSPECTOR Very promising as a 2yo, he has yet to live up to it as a 3yo.A versatile runner with wins over 5,5f to one mile, Now it’s just a case of getting out of the gate and start to race. The rest will surely follow.

19 90923 LOOKING FOR MORE Gene P Bickett 10/1 BRAHMS x PENTELICUS x DISTANT VIEW A lightly races 3yo by BRAHMS owned by the tee jay empire. After starting his 3yo campaign with a bit of a downer, he changed gears and hey presto 4 races 2 win 2 2nd all triple figures. If he can keep this up all the way, Tee Jay will be smiling all the way to the winner’s circle. It’s great to see such a young trainer bring out the best in his ponies (Sim or RL). One thing fore sure we will all be LOOKING FOR MORE…

20 41760 MINE BLUFF Carpediem KB Blalock 29/1 Well you don’t see that everyday, such a jump in sps. From 102 to 1 back to 101.his connections are never sure to pack a break parachute or give him the cab fare home. If MINE BLUFF wakes up in time and sticks like glue to the front-runners he might be in with a Chance. On the other hand …anybody got the number of the local taxi firm?

Therefore, will it be boys against the girls or an old boys club at the wire. We’ll have to wait and see.
In this field, the filly Whitener looks real good, but don’t forget the other filly WILE E. CAPOTE she will be defending her number one spot as best dirt filly. I would say on the boys front I m heavily leaning towards STORMFANG, LOOKING FOR MORE and of course MEADOWGOLD, all top class sprinters.
UCIO BELLO, MINE BLUFF, MIKE’S CATCH (IRE), GO JENNAH GO and EL PRADO’S APPEAL (IRE) are all a bunch of runners with high odds, there shouldn’t be any surprises in that lot.
AT 8/1 we have HATTORI HANZO the bookies favourite, but not mine. DAY APPROVAL being the second favourite with LOOKING FOR MORE.
GOLD SACRIFICE, GOLDEN BANANA, RECANT and EL PRADO’S APPEAL (IRE) are making up the midfield in the odds, with GRAND THIEVERY, FLASH THE CASH and SHAFTED AGAIN are the front-runners of the odds group.
PROVEN AWESOME, MEADOWGOLD STORMFANG and SMOKENTATE are all at 11/1 12/10r 13/1.
What do all these numbers mean…I am not quite sure? Ok I understand the basics of betting but that about it. Looking at the PPs and SPs of all these racers has confused me even more than my head cold have.
Therefore, I have decided to take the scientific approach to wards my tips this week…
