The Guinness Will Be Flowing In Eyre

Welcome top Ireland for the running of the Keg Of Guinness G1 over A mile and one quarter Firm Turf for the stake of $500,000 for All horses, 3 years old and up . I had the pleasure of attending the sponsors function at the course last evening and talked to owners trainers and jockeys of the respective runners heres what they had to say. The black liquid loosened a few tongues as the night went on and we got some good insight into some of the chances.

PP1 STRONG RIDE reems11 F Dirks 12/1

We bred this horse from a lightly raced mare DAKOTA’S RIDE we tried him on dirt 1st up and although he performed well we switched him to turf he didn’t develop till a late 2yrold when he won a MSW in Tennessee he made a massive sp jump as a 3yrold and really we haven’t looked back. We bought him to Europe for his last run here in Ireland and he produced the goods over 8f we are hoping the extra 2f will see him improve some more. The trainer rowdy said he hoped the horse could get a soft lead and that he would take some running down in the stretch.

PP2 ROSENTHAL(IRE) simsters8 M Russell 11/1

This horse is a homebred who we new would improve with time he show little as a 2yrold but improved to run a nice 10 time in a 3yrold allowance . We then decided to try a mile and a half in the G1-Adelaide Derby where he was not disgraced in running a nice 4th the trainer said we would go back to 10f racing and he has performed well we are yet to win a graded race but feel his time is due. The trainer lenny said he now felt this colt was strong enough to take out a graded race and with a pretty good jockey M Russell up picked the colt to get a nice trail and issue his challenge in the finish.

PP3 DEVIL’S KING(IRE) stevesutto P Michael 10/1

With this horses breeding we decided not to run him at 2yrs so we left him in the paddock to mature and it seems to have paid dividends . 22 races to date have resulted in 9 wins . I think his win as a 3yrold in the G2-Boston Derby proved to us we had a grade worthy horse and he has continued to rack up the wins and seems to like the 10f distance best. His trainer says he has high cruising speed and will be up with the leaders all the way. His jockey P Michael has a good winning record on the track.

PP4 NEW STORM coolerk A Reed 6/1

He had 2 runs as a 2yrold on dirt and raced pretty well . Then at 3 the trainer suggested turf and he was right as the distances have got longer so his sps have got higher . He won the G1-Roy Higgins RESTRICTED at the Eqinics in style with a 113sp he is a multiple stakes and grade winner and has amassed stakes of $2,786,975 he continues to show great form and looks one of the class horses in this field . In A Reed he has one of the top jockeys in Ireland . The trainer said in this field he would instruct the rider to drop back and close late in the stretch when the leaders are starting to tire. .

PP5 TETE DIALYSIS(GB) sabbath B Izalls 16/1

We bred him from the G2 winning mare GOTS THE GOLD TEEF he won his first race at 2yrs and has been very consistent ever since he has not won the big money that others in this field have but he has never been far away when racing in graded company and trainer by his breeder sabbath he will lack nothing in preparation for this race. His trainer said his run 2 starts back in the G3-Mean Joe Green Classic gave him the confidence to think he could win this with the right run. B Izalls will put him away in midfield and look to finish on in stretch.

PP6 TETE THE UNDEAD(AUS) jacobsson B Barnes 11/1

A second string in the bow for the previous trainer breeder combination this one is from the stakes winning he-mare OAK SKIER this Australian bred stayer has been in the money in 19 of his 27 starts for just shy of a $million he was second to NEW STORM in the G1-Roy Higgins so you would have to include him in your trifecta’s . sabbath says he never runs a bad race and could be worth a lazy dollar in this if he can get a good run handy to the pace.

PP7 GOLD MEDAL(IRE) reems11 B McCormick 15/1

Not very often do you get to have one runner in a G1 the reems stable has two along with the #1 horse here is the second he may be found a little wanting in this field we feel returning to 10f after racing lately around a mile may pay dividends he is worthy of his place . The trainer says he thinks STRONG RIDE has the better chance but as he says if your not in you cant win i say here here to that.

PP8 JUMPIN’ JAVA waradmiral C Shull 6/1

We never raced this horse till a late 3yrold and gave him one start on dirt he ran a remarkable 103sp 1st up . His first nine starts were on dirt he won 4 of them . We switched him to turf where he has also been successful he has won the G3-Long Legged Handicap over this distance and three starts ago won the G1-John Scott Appreciation Stakes over 12f we have only given him 18 starts and he has 5 wins and $1,271,625 in stakes . His trainer kiddman says this horse has done nothing but amaze him since he stepped out on the training track and see no reason why he wont win this . He has been able to acquire the services of C Shull and he should be able to secure a trailing position even from this draw .

PP9 AWESOME AFFAIR millerfar2 D Doyle 7/1

We have only raced him over this distance once and that was some time ago which he won we have concentrated on racing 8-9f since and after a chat with the trainer now feel that we should try 10f again now the horse is 6yrsold he has won 10 of his 31 starts and has been a delight to own . His trainer millerfarm agrees it is time to try the longer classic distance in this race .

PP10 TETE OF OZ(IRE) jacobsson E Newcomb 26/1

Yet another from the mighty Tete empire and not the last either they have 3 runners . Really we feel this one is more of a stakes performer but he is in the field with a runners show . He has two good turf stakes wins in last two starts and you cant do better than win. We have managed to secure quite a good jockey in E Newcomb tomorrow and he must help our prospects.

PP11 RAPID GREY champions4 Z Kentucky 7/2

His connections are as expected very upbeat especially as he is in the HOF top 10 for this week at #8 . We are very proud to have him in the top horses in sim and think there are only better times to come at 5yrs of age and performing as he is we can only see him getting stronger by the day. He has won 4 graded races in a row 3 of them G1s including the G1-Godzilla vs The World Turf Classic over 10f with a 113sp . He has won 14 from 22 and $4,357,836 . His trainer stoners said the 5yrold is much stronger this year and has not been beaten this year against all comers and with the champion Irish jockey Z Kentucky aboard only makes him harder to beat he has won 7 G1 races so far. He will be ridden well back in race and only an interupted run in stretch should deny him.

PP12 TEE JAY ‘S GREAT les333 E C Doyle 5/1

Last of all i join the les111 for one last pint of guinness as the night winds down i think they are part of the tete empire although i forgot to ask directly . A lot of people are writing us off they said this horse finished 3rd just over 3L behind RAPID GREY not so long ago over 10f in G1 company . as is also a winner at G1over this distance in the G1-The Prince of Whales at Epsom in June of last year . He has won over $1million and has won 10 of 17. His jockey E C Doyle said he would try to steal a march on the others at the top of the stretch and hopes to hold the late closers off to the wire.
