AVENGER’S MIESQUE

I Wimpy

12/1

4yo colt out of a “G” rated mare that has produced some decent progeny.    Colt has shown he can run on both surfaces and win.  However, his record shows he is a sprinter and it’s hard to see him doing anything in this.  His best bet here would be to try for the lead; but that’s a long shot because others here are pacemakers.

REDSTONE

G Rogers

24/1

4yo scratch bred by A.P. Indy that is very lightly raced.  Has only been OTM once in nine starts and is of unknown quality.  Has met almost all conditions and is coming off a nice 10f win at Tenn.  Breeding suggests he has stakes ability, but it must be proven.  SP’s do not suggest he is up to that task as of yet.  Until that happens, we will have to pass.

5/2

Pre race favorite and rightly so.  5yo scratch bred that has 12 W’s in just 28 starts; including three G2 races from 10 to 12f  Last out was a walk in the park in the Our Ivory stakes at N. Florida..  Likes sitting back and making a big run on the turn for home.  He will have a lot of speed to run at here and is the “one to beat”.

STORMING THROUGH

Z Wylde

5/1

5yo scratch bred that has the capability of threatening here.  Throws the big one every now and then but is very inconsistent.  He is stakes tested and has two victories in that class.  The horse likes to lay back and make a late move, but one never knows if he will fire.  Record shows he is due for a big run, but do we take that chance in this?

TOM‘S SHINING STAR

10/1

6yo out of a “B” rated mare that is in the W&T phase of his career.  He has 44 starts and five allowance wins to his credit.  I must be honest here.  This horse could have had a brilliant career had the trainer not raced him over his head.  He has repeatedly been beaten down by being placed in stakes races, when he could have been beating allowance fields.  However, different strokes for different folks.

B Ironside

7/2

4yo out of an “E” rated mare.  10 wins in 24 starts shows his capability as a legitimate entry here.  Has won from 5.5f to two miles, so he is extremely versatile.  In his last two outs, he has had the misfortune of running into some really sharp horses.  He was beaten running SP’s of 102 and 105!!  He looks solid here and should be battling for the lead once again.  Ironside should break him cleanly and than it’s up to his conditioning as to how he will last here.  He should be tough.

GRAVE POINT MADE

C Butts

20/1

5yo out of an “F” rated mare, sired by Point Given.  Throw his last out on the green stuff and his record is one of a decent allowance animal.  He usually likes longer and less competition.  Not to say he isn’t a nice horse.  At this point he would do better at this level in events from 13-16f.  Even then, he would be better of in allowance fields until he can crack the 100SP barrier.  However, as stated previously, different strokes for different folks.

Lightly raced scratch bred.  This 4yo is still trying to find his niche in performance.  Colt is still eligible for NW3L and has a promising career.  This is a very tough field to try for that 3rd win.  Will it set him back?  This will be his fourth try at stakes, in which he has yet to prove himself.  Confidence is gained by winning in proper placement.  He’s a good animal that has lots of potential.  Give him a chance to prove it.

5yo that has seen his better days slip by.  Still has some life, although W&T is setting in.  May do fairly well here as there are misplacements in the field.  Certainly should make for a decent he/she brood mare when the time comes.  If he can manage a 100SP in this he has a chance for the top three.

CRAFTY PART

H Ross

5/1

4yo scratch bred that started off his career as a very nice sprinter.  However, with SW as his sire, it wouldn’t be long finding out he could go a distance.  Seven W’s in sixteen tries at a distance proved that.  Coming into this race he looks primed to be the “one to catch”.   Four races back he was ready at this distance and wired the field.  That appears to be the scenario here.  We would like to have seen a better post, but Ross shouldn’t have a problem getting to the rail.  In this punter’s eyes, he looks ready to rock and roll.

I try to call them like I see them…so I apologize if my comments were a little critical.  We all play the game differently.  Tri box…3,6,10
