Eclipse Analysis – 2yo Edition
Hey guys, I’ve received a couple of private messages as to whether I could analyse the Eclipse winners in the same way I do the Fastest Horse In Simland.
I think this is a great idea for a number of reasons, one being that the fastest SP’s aren’t necessarily the game’s best horses whereas the Eclipse winners definitely are.
If you don’t read the Fastest Horse In Simland weekly BTB article please have a read of any of the articles before these Eclipse ones as they explain the reasoning behind each of the 12 categories you’ll see in the analysis below. It will be pretty confusing otherwise.
So this ‘Eclipse Edition’ will hopefully give us an insight into how to breed & train an Eclipse winner.
Also because the analysis is based on winning an Eclipse award and not a weekly fastest SP I’m going to replace ‘Class Drop’, ‘Distance drop’ & ‘Surface switch’ with Season Wins, Season Group wins, & Season Group 1 wins respectively.
So I’m breaking it down most likely into 4 parts with the first instalment being dedicated to the 2yo winners.
Also in similar fashion to the Fastest Horse In Simland articles I’ve listed the trainer of each horse as the master stable rather than the actual training stable. I do this because I feel it gives a much better idea of who is actually training these horses rather than the substables which are fairly random at times.
THE 2YO ECLIPSE WINNERS ARE……………..

Congratulations to all the 2yo Eclipse winning horses and trainers!!
See I feel that Tennessee Backstab should have won the 2 yo Filly on Turf. She won 2 G3’s and the G1 Breeder’s Bowl F Juvy Turf and beat Lady Attica in the BB? She finished her year out with 7-7 record? What else do you want her to do?
I’d like a retraction of this article. Dubawhatever is a fraud. He is not the rightful HOY. If the BTB does not respond to this rigging of the polls I think it no longer has legitimacy.
There is/was no poll-rigging. There were no polls. Eclipse Awards since 2015 have been awarded based on a points-based system. Specifically, purse earnings in stakes determines the winners of each category and HOTY. This is clearly stated on the EOY Award Points page.
