Big Race Recap 3161

Race: 3161.5315 All Your Base Are Belong To Us Cup – Grade I – $500,000
Track:
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf
The dominant three year old turf horse continued to look like a man among boys. Since switching to the turf Mambo Wildcat is undefeated in seven attempts now and has a dazzling nine wins from eleven lifetime starts. Mambo Wildcat had near perfect stalking position on the pace setters. At the top of the stretch he was a length behind the pace setter. From there he made a steady strong drive through the stretch pulling away to a two length victory.
Exclusive Habitat (ENG) made his graded debut a successful one. He is bred to go long and making just his fifth career start his future looks bright. He has been a pace horse so far in his young career but today he settled off the pace setter in second stalking just in front of the heavy favorite. Around the turn for home he moved to the lead but could not match the favorite in the stretch. He gave up ground grudgingly finishing second by two lengths.
Bagored (FR) also made a successful debut I graded company. Bagored has been slowly coming along and really took a big step forward two races back. He exploded in a non winners of two lifetime going from low eighties speed figures to a ninety-eight. He fell well off the pace early here some twelve lengths back but he made a strong move to the front and was even gaining ground through the stretch to get third four lengths behind the winner.
Race: 3161.5915 Crock of Gold– Grade I – $500,000
Track:
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up
Distance: One mile on the Turf
Hail Cesario slams his opponents in the first major grade I race for turf milers. Hail Cesario prepped for this run in an allowance race at a longer distance where he ran closer to the pace. He finished third their but the object of that race was to get him ready for this. That plan worked to perfection as instead of being more than ten lengths off the early pace Cesario was running comfortably nine lengths off the pace. From there he rocketed toward the front with a very impressive stretch drive that saw him catch the pace setters and put four lengths on them by the time he crossed the finish line.
Very Silver was coming off of three very impressive performances in graded competition at this distance but looked flat today. He posted 109 and 112 speed figures in his last two runs previous to this race. He came in as the favorite and stalked like he normally does from about fifth position. He moved toward the front runners in the stretch but was not on the same level as Cesario. He looked extended through the stretch to just get by the pace setter for second four lengths behind the winner.
Hollow Sun (GB) has been winning in allowance company and running ok in graded company recently. Today he stalked from third and briefly took the lead at the top of the stretch. He ran his race and today it was good enough to hold on to third just four and a quarter lengths behind the winner.
Race: 3161.6116 The

Distance: Six furlongs on the Dirt
Three D is a veteran at this early stage of her career with fourteen career races already. She has been steady each time out and today she did not disappoint. She stalked and pressed the early pace took the lead in the stretch only to just get run down in the very late stages of the race.
Turf Angel has done her best on the dirt thus far. She ran a very impressive 97 speed figure two races back but could not back that up today. She stalked from fifth and like the top two made a strong bid through the stretch. She would come up just short at the wire finishing just three quarters of a length behind the winner.
