TURF ANGEL Devils Spa Trainers
By ITCH
When Dokki3 bred TURF ANGEL, there’s no question what kind of runner he was looking for.
By Rahy, and with Danzig figuring prominently as the DDS, Dokki had designs for a career on the green stuff for this filly, as evidenced by her name.
But after her smashing victory Saturday in the Forty Even Handicap on West Virginia’s main track, it’s clear Turf Angel is heavenly on the dirt. She captured her second career stake already on the main track in only six starts, flying home with a great big speed fig of 97 to beat a strong field of 11. In doing so, she disappointed no fewer than four West Virginia Stakes Competition trainers who liked their chances in this race.
This writer’s pick was PEEK, who ran on well to be second, but never threatened the winner.
