Lenny271 Takes On The Granny Deal Challenge

Lenny271 Takes On The Granny Deal Challenge

Montana – Among the plethora of long overnite stake’s races, is the Montana card topper, The Granny Deal Challenge.  Three year-old fillies will take center stage in the mile and three sixteenths turf race for a purse of $40,000.  Granny Deal is an 11 YO mare by Common Grounds who was a six time winner from her 48 races.  This included a Grade III stakes and out here in Montana they think highly enough of her to name a race in her honor.  She is the dam of one foal to race – a winner.  Only five fillies will go to the post Saturday despite the weatherman’s guarantee of good weather.  Here is the field for Saturday’s race.

On the hedge in post one is Freedom Lies (4/1) by Statue Of Liberty.  She only has a maiden win under belt and she did that three races back in her seventh try.  She followed that up with a second at the allowance level.  On a bit of a roll she gained slightly down the lane in a mile allowance.  That slight gain encouraged trainer Bmr002 to try a longer distance along with the jump in class.

Price Is Right (7/2) will be saddled by Kingranch and is by Dansili.  She doesn’t have much experience with only two starts but she ran a game second in her first start and then was a very professional winner last time out with almost a 10 point jump in her speed figure.  She should be fine with the distance but the lack of experience could hurt her.  She will answer the question of whether she might be special on Saturday.

Eliteteam1 (is this a subsidiary of the Super Stables or their competition?) owns and trains Urko’s Twisted (5/2), a well-made daughter of Perfect Soul.  She won five races in a row, including The Deputy Dan, The Mookie’s Blade and The Threeburg Special before finishing second and third respectfully in The Boneseaker and The Bounded Shin.  This is a top notch filly and I look for her to be around at the finish.

Dragula (2/1) is by the red hot sire Ghostzapper and was made the morning line favorite, either because of her breeding or her trainer.  She has won three of her six starts and although this is her first time in a stakes race, she does have two wins at the distance.  Lenny271 is the trainer of record and I am not sure if he really has 271 stables or if he does, how he manages to get all his horses entered every week, but I know he had a horse in every race I entered this week and in every stake race that I covered for the BTB except maybe one.  With that many horses he needs 271 stables.  Amazing!

Flickaspad will send out Cryptowings (5/2) a daughter of Cryptoclearance.  She has only a maiden win from three starts.  She was a closing second in her very first start and impressed her trainer enough to enter her in a The Dawn Wally next time out.  She only beat two in that race and her trainer decided to try the lawn next.  Cryptowings found a new gear and destroyed a field of Maidens by five lengths last time out.  I think this lightly raced filly may be the one to beat.

Good Luck to all.
