No Clear Favorite In The Mother Teddy
(SP)Wyoming- Up this week is the $45,000 Mother Teddy(GB) Special. It is a nice eight and a half furlong jaunt on the turf. It is open for ladies four years and older. Once again the WRC reaches back into the past to resurrect a race that was well received and exciting to watch. They group is hoping for the same results this time out. Indications show an interest in this race as eleven ladies have entered. Let’s take a look at who will participate on the high plains on Saturday.
Blue White entered by safbred. This filly comes in continuing her North American racing this year. The front runner has had two strong run this season with a stakes win last time out. She likes the turf and the distance will attest with five wins in the past. A good jump from the gates should be in her favor.
Holiday Gift entered by thebuzz. This mare comes in after a long rest and will open her season on Saturday. This horse ended last season struggling for consistency and is likely to continue here. She has been overworked and likely burned out and the kindest thing would to send her to the breeding shed. It has been a long time since she has produced stakes quality speeds.
Alakazaam(IRE) entered by pisanor. This former claimer comes in off a strong showing for the season debut. The stalker likes to sit just behind the leaders and sprint for home where she is most effective. She is coming out of the gates close to the rail and this is where she has had the most success. This could work in her favor.
V Fund entered by lgbost0x. This filly moved to the grass for this season and opened with a stakes win. This closer is a bit erratic but does have the ability to put up the numbers. She will be running at the distance best suited for her, but unfortunately has drawn jockey Alex Dave who is struggling this year. That could hurt her.
Gone Wylde entered by sarava02. This filly has seen both surfaces this year and will be trying her first stakes of the year. Both runs have been solid with mixed results, but the grass seems to be the better choice at this time. She likes to stalk and will have the hot jockey Jesse Sands in the irons.
Gone Skiing entered by tbird2. This mare is hoping thirteen will be her lucky number, because that is how many times she has been to the big dance since her last won one. This front runner seems to have lost a step and not performing as she once could, but she is still a danger and can still surprise. Maybe she runs better on the grass in Wyoming.
Copalachee entered by roachdale. This chestnut filly hit the grass for the first time her last time out with a great effort. The stalker will shorten a bit looking to extend this sudden spurt in speed on the new surface. She has proven in the past this is the ideal distance for her and the trainer is hoping for great things here.
Angela entered by chapman. This compact roan filly comes into the race with some inconsistency problems. The front runner will string together a few good races and then drop a clunker. She has done that last race and is set to return to a good effort. Having the wily veteran Vince Gannon in the irons will be to her advantage.
Time Sweep entered by marsattack. This filly returns to routing where she is most comfortable. This closer puts up some good speeds, but needs the extra ground to be most effective. She will have the hot jockey John Dawg in the irons and this should give her a needed boost.
Leave It To Me entered by haulinoats. This light gray filly comes in with the least experience under the saddle. She has started out the year a little slow and the trainer is hoping for a big jump in effort this time out. She likes to close on the field and will once again try the tactic here. She will need a clean start from the gates as a larger field gives her some problems.
Sad Form entered by martialis. This chestnut filly will be making her stakes debut in Wyoming. Last time out got her a solid Allowance win and the trainer is hoping to build on this. This pacesetter reverted to closing on the change of surface and this may be the way to go for her to a stakes win on the grass.
