Bombers Fire Up Stakes

Beautiful Victoria in sunshine greets a field of six crack 3yo fillies that will contest the BOMBERS FIRE UP Memorial Stakes over 9f on firm turf for a purse of $85,000. The race has been scheduled at Caulfield due to track redevelopment at VRC headquarters but that won’t worry these fiery girls as when the barrier springs open, it will be all business!

PP #1 – VALET PARK(KY) – ECTON PARK X DYNAFORMER X THUNDER GULCH (rrlogans) 6/1
11/2-2-2 for $53,162 – Turf Classic: 54
She didn’t make the field of the $450,000 G1 Train Yard in Italy in the Breeder’s Bowl rematch and has been brought to Victoria instead. Career earnings indicate she has not set the world on fire however Valet Park placed 2nd in the Empty Band Memorial Stakes and 3rd in her first run this year in the Majestic Lightning Special Stakes over 9.5 furlongs. Shown a definite improvement as a 3yo and over more ground and will handle this distance easily. Placed 2nd at this track in NW3L allowance and can either lead, sit just off or come from behind. From a two time Stakes winning dam over 9.5 and 10 furlongs who developed late and did her best racing as a 5yo.

PP #2 – DESERT ALLEY(ENG) – GREEN DESERT x BROAD BRUSH x ALYDAR (lenny25) 4/1
6/3-1-2 for $110,710 – Turf Classic: 76
From big time trainer that has Lightseeker in the G1 Train Yard and Ghostly Breeze in the G1 Sweet Nanette. Desert Alley is attempting to make it four in a row after winning her maiden, NW1x allowance and last start A.P Magic Stakes going 8.5 f in 3112 by three lengths. Has not run over 90 SP but should get better with ground. Races at the rear of the field and should come rattling home from the deep to be in the finish. Has done most of her racing in New South Wales, so heading south across the Murray River shouldn’t hamper her and with champion jock D Evans on board all looks promising.

PP #3 – REGATTA(AUS) – ELVSTROEM (AUS) x DARSHAAN(ENG) x CANDY STRIPES (simon1966) 4/1
7/3-0-3 for $79,720 – Turf Classic: 248
This 3yo daughter of Elvis has had two runs this year, neither suggesting development from her 2yo season. Winner of Profitable Colony Stakes in Queensland and has placed 3rd in all three of her stakes runs since. Was smashed in the G1 Techrangers Graduation Stakes but comes in this off a NW3L three and a quarter length allowance win in 3119. Drawn the middle and will attempt to come home from mid-field.

PP #4 – JO’S SPANISH GOLD(KY) – JOHANNESBURG x EL PRADO(IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD (rms) 3/1
7/5-0-1 for $190,640 – Turf Classic: 90
Four time Stakes winner having proved herself at sprint distance. Should get extra distance and with J Kohlmorgen on board who has 20% win ratio this year looks well placed. Coming into this off barnstorming win in Buttered Captain Challenge Stakes where she beat Regatta over seven lengths whilst running SP of 96 going 7.5f. Runs close to speed and will battle On The Ascent for the lead. Chance she may go from wire to wire this week.

PP #5 – INDESCRIBABLE(IRE) – SADLER’S WELLS x MR. PROSPECTOR x KALPHARD(FR) (babycolt) 3/1
9/2-1-3 for $107,450 – Turf Classic: 558 (Dirt Classic: 63)
Trainer babycolt giving Indescribable chance to prove herself on turf after placing 3rd in multiple G3 races and winning A.P Naskra Stakes all on dirt. Comes into this off nineteen length flogging in G3 Sabian Handicap last start and is genuine unknown on turf. Sire suggests turf influence but my money will be elsewhere. Will sit in 4th or 5th position and attempt to bridge gap in stretch. May run well if she can handle the turf.

PP #6 – ON THE ASCENT(IRE) – (HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE) x MISWAKI x NEVER BEND) (elite2) 5/2
7/4-1-0 for $125,890 – Turf Classic: 135
Proved herself in allowance company and stepping up to Ungraded Stakes for first time this week. Has not impressed in two previous G3 runs but comes into this after posting 90 SP to win open allowance just under two lengths going 8f. Breedding suggests she will handle 9f and looks to have taken the step from last year. Jockey N Hartel will be up front against Jo’s Spanish Gold and both should give the field the slip in the stretch.

Prediction: Jo’s Spanish Gold 1st, On The Ascent 2nd, Desert Alley 3rd.
