Favored Journeyman Easy Winner

Luke warm favorite Journeyman raced like a 1-5 shot as he posted an open lengths victory for trainer Kiri.  The seven year old warrior sat well off the torrid pace set by Half A World Away in the early going.  Jockey Capper steadily cut into the leader’s margin and was third, some three and a quarter lengths back at head stretch.

At that point, Capper gave his charge the word and Journeyman hit third gear instantly.  With long, powerful strides, the Seeking The Gold stallion rushed up alongside HAWA, said hello and good-bye, and drew off to a two and a quarter lengths score.

New York Thunder also put in a powerful late run which propelled him past many rivals into the place spot.  Hunter’s Mine finished well for show honors.  HAWA faded to sixth after his early efforts.  Journeyman covered the mile and one sixteenth in 1:41.1 which was good for a 111 speed rating.
