Parity For Provellian
(SP)Wyoming- This week Wyoming is bringing back the $50,000 Provellian Stakes in honor of a very notable mare from the past. She was a monster runner who liked routing on the turf. She won seven graded stakes with 22 total stakes wins overall. She won over $2 million and half of her 86 runs were for the money in strakes races. After pressure from WHOA, the WRC brings this back in hopes it will create excitement and end up like the last time. It was a closely contested race where the top four horses were all within a length of each other and the winner taking it by a head. Once again it will be a mile on the grass for fillies three years old. A small group of ladies will be contesting the run on Saturday and it is now time to meet them.
Widow‘s Watch entered by stormborn2. This lady returns to stakes level for her season debut. She ended last season with a strong showing at an allowance mile that resulted in a win. She has had plenty of rest and work and is looking to start off her season on the right hoof. This front runner comes in as one of the early favorites and will have the hot jockey John Dawg in the irons.
Unbridled Queen entered by wdfifty. This light grey filly will be returning to the grass for her season opener. The trainer is hoping the return to turf racing will revitalize her. She ended last season on a slightly sour note with a lack luster performance in a graded race on the dirt. This front runner is considered one of the early favorites even with the slight stumble last time out.
Seeing The Ransom(ENG) entered by amybab. This English lass has yet to finish out side of the money in her young career. She is a very consistent and likes running a mile on the turf, but so far is equally good on the dirt. The trainer thinks the experience from her last race should prove the difference this time out. Of course having top jockey Jesse Sands in the irons should prove a bonus.
Personal Account entered by bmracing11. This lady stays in Wyoming at another attempt at a stakes race. Last time out she cover a lot more turf and was able to take a place on a short field. Once again she is in a short field with less ground to cover and experience on this track. The trainer believes this will give her the needed edge for a win.
Petrie‘s Gold entered by thebigo. Rounding out the field is this four time winning roan filly. She moved to the grass and exploded for three straight wins, the last at stakes level. This will be first time she will be extending to a mile, but the trainer believes the closer is ready to stretch it out. The wily veteran Vince Gannon will be in the irons and it should give her a strong boost.
