Nine Strong Open Season

(SP)Wyoming- A new season has started and we kick it off with a nice field of nine runners. It will be on the turf, which the WRC has decided to continue featuring throughout the year again. Up this week will be a longer sprint of seven and a half furlongs for four year and older horses. It will be the $50,000 Limited Kiwi Special named for a mediocre horse that at least was able to win four stakes races. Here are the runners set to challenge this weekend.

Sinner’s Swing entered by sdmfl. This chestnut colt will be opening his third season with the early favorite tag. He has had limited success on the turf and it makes you wonder what the trainer has up their sleeves. The horse is hoping to open his season well after a poor ending last. The wily veteran Vince Gannon will be in the irons.

Bigtate Fort entered by bigtate02. This four year old is looking to return to the form he had the middle of last year when he was tearing up the turf. He has been running consistently lately, but just not able to get that extra step he needs. He likes this distance and is hoping the hot controversial jockey John Dawg will bring him to victory.

Ohmsford entered by tarahewett. This elder horse will be starting his forth season under the saddle. He has been running a lot of routes on the grass and as such is a solid allowance runner. The trainer is shortening the track in hopes of breathing new life in him. This would probably be better done a race level lower.

Huge Mon entered by ezpimpin. This dark grey elder statesman opens another season with a first time visit to Wyoming. He has shown a strong classic aptitude and running just shy of it could be a good start to the season. He finished last season strong and consistent but did not get the results he desired. Will be looking to start this season with no fall off due to age concerns.

Grade One Pop(IRE) entered by unreal. This lightly run four year old will start off the season in his stakes debut. When moved to the turf last year this colt improved drastically and is looking on building on that here. The odds makers have not given high regard to the colt but I think he will surprise many. Especially since he seems to be improving with each race under the saddle.

Hail D’Invern entered by dcranger. This is another old timer that makes his first trip to the high plains of Wyoming. He ended last year on a couple of wins and is looking to extend that here. He is more comfortable at routes but can produce at sprints when he has to. He is well rested and that could be just the advantage he needs.

Audible Hope entered by masgalas. This colt will also be making his stakes debut on the weekend. He has been running very strong in allowance company and may be ready for the step up. He has a little trouble with larger fields but is familiar with the track so should not have too many problems.

Mineshlagger entered by redbullet5. This elder horse makes his first attempt on the turf. He is tagged as an early favorite and your guess is as good as mine why that is. He is unproven on the grass. That said, he has been running very strong on the dirt at this distance and already has a stakes win too.

Super Coverup entered by taleofcat9. This chestnut colt comes in as the other favorite, He stays on the grass after his dominant performance for a win last time out. The distance is to his liking and will have the top jockey in Jesse Sands, all of which could lead him to a second win in a row.
