Fantastic Brodmare Sends Out Fantastic Filly!

Hong Kong – The $50,000 The CUPID’S COMPANION Challenge will feature a short field of four sophomore fillies sprinting three quarters of a mile on the main dirt track. Among them is the 3yo daughter of one of the SIM world’s greatest young broodmares and likely candidate for the SIM Hall of Fame, FANTASTIC OLLIE . The track is expected to be fast.

Breaking out of the one hole is Fantastic Karie, the daughter of the spectacular broodmare, Fantastic Ollie. T. Brewer is in the irons. The young filly went to post eight times as a freshman with two wins, four seconds, a third and a fourth. She is already stakes placed and is looking to add a stakes win to her resume in her first start as a 3yo. Following in the shadow of not only her GI winning mother, but also her three brothers will be a tough path. Her family is a strong one and this filly has a bright future.

Number two is Not Here Not Now. H. Ly gets the call with odds of 7/2. Sophomore made seven starts as a 2yo with two wins and a third. Seems to throw a clunker every other race or so and would figure that pattern to continue off of a big win last time out. Will likely set the pace in here if she wants to and could steal the race gate to wire.

The royally bred 3/5 favorite is Romance Is Diane. C. Shinkle will ride from the three post. The Storm Cat x Forty Niner x Raise A Native bloodlines is ultra impressive – as is her late running style. This will be her third lifetime start and we will see just how good she really is.

Summer Spirit is the longshot at 11/1 with P. Kelly aboard. The Charismatic filly has just one win and a second from nine tries. Her only win came at the MC-2500 level and I would expect that she will need to improve vastly to even be within 10 lengths of the top three. *Note that she was claimed for $5k after breaking her maiden and has faced allowance company her last two before showing up here.
