Challenge Update: Just Ugly

A lousy week.  Those three words sum it up.

Results

CLOCKED OFF has been a pretty good sprinter and after a nice 92 speed in his last but at a long 8.25f I brought him back to a short 4.5f race. He also raced allowance in his last start so he took on a softer starter allowance with a tag requirement of $20,000.  Bettors liked this move and made him the 3/1 favorite in the 10 horse field.  He came running late from the ninth spot but did not have enough ground left to make it to the top spot finishing fifth.   A measly little 2 BP’s were picked up along with the G-sire card.

MAKE IT SPARKLE also raced in allowance in last and brought down to a 6f claiming race after going a mile for the first time in his career.  A 95 speed in the $150,000 pricey claiming races was a shiny, sparkly thing to see but finishing fifth and last was not.   Collected 5 BP’s on this one and that popular G-card.

Two year old WESTERN COMEDY came back from the farm and ran in a maiden claimer and hopeful of some better things after finishing second in her debut.  Fifth place out of six was not better but the speed nudged up to 53, not that great either.  She brought back 5 BP’s and a G-card.  Like I’ve done with other 2 year olds, this one will go back to the farm and rest up for her next start which may be a tryout on the turf.

Finishing fifth has become boring and KID ALLIANCE was looking to break this trend.  He was transferred from turf where he has done his best to see if he could adopt to the dirt.   Well, he didn’t.  Nor did he finish fifth.  He finished fourth but the low paying starter allowance points were all chewed up by travel costs.  I did get an F-card out of the deal.

Stable Changes

As mentioned above, Western Comedy is going back to the farm as I like to give the 2 year olds some decent rest between races.  The open stable spot goes to BORN IN SEPTEMBER who is a 2 year old that has been resting at the farm, so you can say I’m swapping  2 year olds around in this dealing.  Born in September is a sire card bred horse who finished fourth in her first start on a yielding turf track.   With Kingmambo, Sadler’s Wells and Danehill connections in her pedigree, I think the grass will be tested again.

 Totals

 SIRE CARDS:

The three G-cards and one F-card  earned this week which mirrored last weeks results giving me a total of 2 F-card and 8 G-cards.

BP’s

A very weak result this week with only 12 BP’s being added to the bank which just barely cracked the 700 level to nudge up to 701.
