The field is a small one for such an important race, so lets break it down

1: Dark Marlin

Has struggled his last few trying on outsiders but has been running his usual times where he was once popping off wins at the 39000 level. Since the field appears to be a little on the slight side he has a huge chance on being on the board here. The distance may be a problem here as with most in the field and quite simply it could be just a matter of endurance that wins the day.

2: Tenpoint Genius

He has continuously been at or near the fringes in most of his races  and comes off a decent dirt win just last September and has been freshened for this one like some others in here as well. Will switch back over to the turf and try his luck out here.

3: Ryz Haras

Won the Local Championships Stakes way back in September on the Dirt and has not run since. In that one he was a easy winner opening up the lead to 5 + at the end of it all. Even though this was a dirt surface he ran on that day he has shown he can and will get the distance and does not seem to have a problem running on the turf. Was the class way back then and I see very little change here. ONce again the rest should work well for him.

4: Blast Shelter

Was also in the Local Championships Stakes last out but although hitting the board was a very distant 3rd buy more than 10 lengths when the winner Ryz Haras had the rest of the field discouraged. Change to Turf here and has not raced since then. If he could ever find the form he was running back in February he would certainly be a factor here and still may be with such a weak field. The rest and surface change should benefit him.

5: Cheapie Card

Cheapie Card really is an after thought w hen it comes to the races but made a significant move speed wise in last when on the turf to score a win in the low claiming ranks. Normally I would say this horse has no shot or even business being in a stakes race but the field is very poor and coming off of his last performance maybe just possibly he might find a way.

6: Unrest At Best

Is struggling to regain his former form when winning regularly on the circuit, but has been managing to hit the board his last few at much higher levels than those he faces today. Where he looks like a contender one way he looks like the most unlikely in another as he has yet to try the 16 f distance and at best has never gone past 11 , and all indications from those races is that he cannot get the distance needed here.
