We go to Newberry in Berkshire,   England this weekend to bring you the Fall Stakes,  a  Group 3 event for freshman sod scorchers.  A compact,  international field of six will travel one circuit of the mile turf oval here at Newberry Racecourse,  with the winner’s share of the $150,000 purse on the line.
Could there be a future star or two lurking here ?  Ya just never know for sure in this game.  So,  let’s take a closer look at these improving two year olds and see who may be sitting on a winning  effort.

 1
CSI  COMEBACK                              IRE          nickesyd     J Tull         2/1
.
Owner/trainer nickesyd sends out the stronger half of an uncoupled entry to lead them on to the track.  Scratch bred bay Australia speedster (by Sadler’s Wells) jumps right into stakes company off a wire to wire hot race allowance score at 8.5 furlongs in his debut,  snatching an 83 SP#.  May not have it easy on the front end in this heat,  faces stiff test in second outing;  handicapper likes his chances making him the favorite on the mornning line.

    SILK’N’DREAMS                             GER          gcliffo2         M Zeus50     5/2
.
Fellow BTB staffer gcliffo2 saddles the handicapper’s second choice,  a bay colt who took a NW2L allowance at  this distance last time over,  nailing a 92 SP# from the middle of the pack.  In his previous start,  scratch bred Soldier Hollow stripling (by Dubai Millenium) was a closing 2nd in same conditions at 7 panels,  nabbing an 87 SP# from mid-pack.   One back of that he broke his maiden at 6.5 furlongs,  making the same mid-pack move to get the money with an 81 SP#.  Should get a decent early pace to track,  will be gaining in the lane,  may get there in stakes debut.

    DARK  PREACHER                         ENG          millview15     L Larson     5/1
.
Bay Nathaniel nipper,  out of the sim-mare Preacher Mike (by Street Sense) settled for 2nd last out at a mile after setting all the pace in a NW2L allowance,  casting an 81 SP#.  One back of that he jumped into the G3 Premie Champion at this route in his second outing,  but finishing a dismal 12th of 14.  He won his initial start at 5 panels,  posting a 75 SP# leading all the way.  Runner from the millview15 racing operation should be s solid pace factor,  may help set it up for a deep closer.

TELESCOPIC  GOLD                     JPN          bobangod     R Whisper     7/2
.
Scratch bred son of Stay Gold (by Theatrical) exits a very close 4th in the G3 The A Bomb at 7 furlongs,  zipping a 91 SP# battling on the front end.  Bay colt prevailed in one prior,  a NW2L allowance at 6.5 panels,  catching an 80 SP# in a stalking trip.  He may not have cared for the off track one back of that when 5th in a local bred allowance at 7 furlongs with a 77 SP#.  Looks like he’ll be sitting just off the leaders,  ready to pounce into the straight;  bobangod trainee may catch some tiring front runners in first try at this trip.

EUROPEAN  COMEBACK          KY          nickesydtop     D Nickesy     7/1
.
The other half of the nickesyd entry is this scratch bred Mucho Macho Man moppet (by Forty Niner),  who was a nice 3rd last out in a NW2L allowance at this route,  grabbing sn 81 SP# from off the pace.  Roan colt took his previous start,  breaking his maiden at 7.5 panels,  garnering an 84 SP# from just off the early leaders.  One back of that was his first turf try,  a gaining 3rd at 6.5 furlongs,  getting s 72 SP# from the middle of the pack.  Makes his initial stakes effort here,  could be along for a share with some improvement.

MOISTURE                                          ENG          chelseydek     T Monk     6/1
.
Finally we have a bay Intello imp,  out of the sim-mare Funny Cry (by Oasis Dream),  who returns to the green after a successful foray into dirt racing,  where he won a NW3L allowance at this distance,  wearing down the pacesetter for an 86 SP#.  He was a close 2nd in his other dirt run at 5.5 panels in a local bred allowance,  copping a 78 SP#.  He won his last turf outing,  taking a local bred allowance at 4.5 furlongs,  posting  71 SP# in a pace pressing try.  Steps up into stakes company for the first time,  may be asking a lot to also switch surfaces for owner/trainer chelseydek.

And the winner is … TELESCOPIC  GOLD  with SILK’N’DREAMS  and  MOISTURE

Good luck everybody.
