CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s my boy!

MAOL DHOMHNAIGH ($10.60) confirmed this writer’s 1,000 credit investment in him by winning The Old Waterford Turf here at the Spa of the Appalachians on Saturday.

The Gaelic Charger broke fairly sharp, sitting in third early behind the predictable pacesetter, Ts1442’s SILVER COURT. That one looked like a big overlay to us at 9-1, and when he started to stretch his lead about halfway home, it looked like we might be painfully correct.

However, Maol Dhomhnaigh did, in fact, have plenty in the tank despite coming into the race on ready to go, not sharp. Much to our delight, he surged to the lead in mid-stretch, catching the classy Silver Court and holding off the late charge of Remedy’s very good PERFECT KARMA, who also caught Silver Court and came in second.

What a thrill for this writer as we went for years and years in this game without winning a single stake, and now have a horse who has won his fourth.
