Challenge Weekly Update
Finally caught a break and got some BP’s this week. I had 5 runners going this week, so chances were good I would get something back. Also picked up a nice F-card. Things changing for the better? We’ll see!
Results
UNTIL THEN has been dropping and dropping in the claiming ranks from $60k to this weeks $7,500. The steady drop has not yielded any results and this week was no exception. As the 3/1 favorite I expected a better than 6th place finish. The horse was never a factor in the race but has a decent breeding line. Someone was attracted to that and the horse was claimed from me. One G-card picked up.
Finally caught a break, thanks to ELITE DANE. This 7-year old is a horse I picked up through the auction and has not raced since 2012. After 3-years being sidelined, he still has it. At 9/2 he took off and was close to the leaders throughout the 6f, $15k claiming race. He responded nicely at the half and won by over a stride. A nice 30 BP’s came along with that as well as the lowly G-card.
TENNO SHO returned to the turf and dropped into a $5k claiming race and went off at 7/1. He ran very well, briefly getting the lead in the stretch but could not fight off the eventual winner. He finished a stride and a half back but earned the second spot and 17 BP’s along with another G-card.
I FORSEE YOU made her second start for me and took on the dirt track this time. Except it was a sloppy dirt track. She ran within striking distance for most of the $5,000 claiming race but could only muster out a fourth place finish that brought home zilch due to traveling costs. I did get an F-card this time.
CHALLENGED ONE, a G-card bred colt, ran for the second time in a cheap $3,000 claiming race and finished fifth in the 5 horse field but was also victimized by the traveling cost. He ran dirt for second time and I’ll give him a tryout on the turf next time to see if things will change. Only a G-card for this one.
Stable Changes
IN FOR A CHALLENGE is a new addition to the stable, courtesy of using some G-cards. The 3 year old colt comes from the unknown line of ARAMUS X HOOCHED X IMPERIAL FLING and has a bit of in-bred lines going as Danzig and Northern Dancer populate twice. With Until Twice being claimed, this new bred has been put into the lineup.
I also picked up SPRING PROSPECTS through a $2,000 claim and cost me 4 BP’s to win the runner. He is a turf runner who has finished in the top 5 spots, worthy of BP’s in 9 of his last 10 starts. I am hopeful that this run is not over yet.
SUPER AWESOME SONG was put into the auction after poor results last week and I got a small $201.
