1 | 49/1 | Claimer got into the race, which is cool, but no chance.
2 | SINUS TRACT | 6/1 |
#3 ranked older turf sprinter. 11 wins in 27 starts with a mil+ in the bank. Picks up top jock in Dale Evans who notched a 3rd place with him at 3yos of age back in wk1824. This son of Seattle Slew has had one race since being laid off for 9weeks. Has one graded victory this year. His biggest victory by far was the Japan Sprint, his last race of 2004. So, when he’s on, he’s on. He should show some fire in the stretch here as his last out was a nice freshening for this. Contender.
3 | MAGPIE IN THE | 7/1 |
A horse on the rise. Former claimer/str. allow; attacks allowance conditions, and then pulls off three stakes sprints in a row!! Has finished 1st or 2nd in last eleven races. This is a big step again, and his class will bare itself. No one can question this colt’s heart and gameness. Should pick up some kind of check.
4 | DIGGING THE GRAVE | 9/2 |
Sdmf bred that took one of the recent Smackdown races easily for the GR Simsters. Good-looking scratch bred colt by Silver Ghost just keeps getting the job done. Has won his last six and shows no signs of slowing down. Picks up high % rider Bruce Ridgle and draws the #3 post giving this colt a chance to once again save ground for his front-running style. He will have to contend with some moderate speed on the outside, but if he’s on his game that shouldn’t prove to be fatal. If he can put the others to bed early, he will be under the wire first. Contender.
5 | OTTO O | 6/1 |
Lightly raced 4yo colt that can make noise on dirt or turf! After picking up 5 wins on dirt, this Storm Cat youngster has won his last two on the grass. A test here for sure, but has the royal breeding to take the step up. Big move in the stretch predicted. Contender.
6 | 6/1 |
Bred from a “C” rated horse, this colt likes to win also. Eight victories in twenty attempts and coming off a stakes win in last. Has 4 wins in 6 starts on the grass which is a very credible record in anyone’s book. Likes to stalk, so he should have good track position when entering the stretch. I’m just wondering if he has the class to stay with these? We’ll see Saturday.
7 | SMART CANADIAN | 56/1 |
If this horse was smart, he’d be in
8 | GREEN MILE II | 9/1 |
Wear and tear shows its ugly face here with this 5yo. He ahs had a successful career and still manages to pick up a nice check now and then. Definitely an underlay here.
9 | SCARCE | 11/1 |
Out of a “G” rated mare. Nice win/place record and has raced competitively in graded events. Needs the lead here to have any chance, but that will not be an easy task. Jock isn’t that strong and may push too hard. SP’s aren’t of this class either. Tough race here.
10 | BARB’S LIBBY( | 19/1 |
Sassy 3yo taking on older. Has been playing well with own age group and now is kinda forced to play with the older boys. He certainly has the class to beat a lot of these, but I don’t think at this point he’s fast enough to be in the top three. Toward the end of the year he will be a force to reckon with.
11 | ZIKLAG | 4/1 |
Seems like I’ve seen this name in a lot of posts at DelPenn. Oh, now I remember, he was going to clean some clock in the SmackdownJ What the O/T didn’t know was my namesake was riding himJ Well I’m not aboard this time, so, he certainly should improve here. #5 in turf sprinting, with almost $3 mil in the bank, he certainly deserves the fav status. Being pretty much a stalker, he should get the jump on the deep closers that pose a threat here. Hasn’t had a SP lower than 100 in two and a half years! That’s awesome. Contender for sure.
12 | 82/1 |
Nice allowance 3yo that needs a little more maturity.
13 | WAY THRU THE TAVE( | 15/1 |
Lightly raced with one stakes win to credit. Would be very surprised to see in the top three. However, is bred to get stronger with age and races. |
